When we arrived at the hotel we were told that our double room was upgraded to an apartment which was just "nebenan". We thought ok and went with the lady who walked very fast throughout the town, which seemed forever, until we finally reached our "Hotel". To our surprise it was an apartment in a 4 / 5 story regular apartment building where families live. If we wanted an Airbnb, we would have booked an Airbnb. Now the apartment was fine but the distance twas close to 10 min from the actual hotel where family and friends were staying and the breakfast was served, BEWARE if they tell you "Nebenan" (next door) it is NOT. The reception should tell their guests upfront how far the apartment really is. We did not enjoy our stay.

Energy Experience in the Tri-Border Region - The JUFA Jülich Energiewelt Indeland in the Brückenkopf-Park is nestled in the gentle landscape of the tri-border region of Holland-Belgium-Germany. You will begin your journey of discovery into the exciting world of energy here. The theme of energy wafts through the entire hotel, from an SWJ energy pavilion powered by Stadtwerke Jülich GmbH to a Green Energy Café and energy relaxation area with sauna.
Very basic and small rooms. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room only 1 small bottle of water. There is an on-site cafe with basic meals. The meal I had was nice and reasonably priced. Small selection of snacks and drinks can be purchased at the bar.

Stayed in Room 17 overlooking busy and noisy junction. Double room small but adequate. Shower enclosure tiny with very poor pressure and difficulty getting correct temperature. Hotel has not been redecorated or altered for years. There is a small kettle and mugs in room with one teabag and one coffee sachet. These are not renewed if you use them. Bring your own supplies. There is no blackout curtain so room will be bright all night. Breakfast very basic and some mornings there was no bacon or scrambled egg. Scrambled egg on Saturday morning was burned with black burnt bits through it. Housekeeping was not good for 2 out of 5 days. One day it was incomplete with no bin liner and cups and glasses left unwashed. On the next day (Sunday) we discovered at 21:30 that housekeeping had been non-existant and we had to call into restaurant (which looks after hotel) and ask for situation to be rectified. Most staff do not speak English. No apology or reduction offered for poor performance. We will give it a miss next time.

We stayed at Gut Alte Burg for almost a week, while working at Julich (which is only 10 minutes by car). It's a beautiful old farm turned into a modern hotel. The rooms were spacious and elegantly furnished, with big beds and a sofa. Clean bathroom with lots of hot water and a beautiful shower. There was no breakfast buffet but a table with bread, cheese, eggs, jam, yogurt and orange juice. You could ask for coffee or tea but there was no milk, or cereal. The hotel only has 8 rooms and due to a misunderstanding we found all three of us sharing a single room for our last night because the hotel was fully booked for a wedding.
