Throwback 80/90s Motel . Stayed one night in middle of winter, the heating was amazing and kept us warm. Very tidy and clean. We had a small kitchen, separate bathroom and toilet and bedroom. Had dinner at the Antler pub down the road and had the best whitebait fritters ever,. Great service

Bay Road Motels is a friendly motel close to the Turnbull river, it has a family units which can sleep up to 8 people, halfway to Jackson Bay, with own wqashing machine and dryer in each motel, wi fi,fully self-contained, quiet.
We spent 2 nights at the Bay Road Motel during a recent trip to the west coast. We were impressed with the accommodation, finding it very comfortable and quiet. We initially chose this place because it is dog-friendly, as we like to travel with our 2 wee dogs. It is located in a quiet rural setting around 16km (10min) out of Haast town down the Jackson Bay road, so a good jump off point for trips down to Jackson Bay. The nearest eateries are back up the road in Haast. Our unit was light and airy with a functional kitchenette and large bathroom. It was one of 2 duplex style units on site. The bed was comfortable and we had a nice restful sleep. Our only small complaint was that the wifi system really didn’t work well – very weak signal. And the mobile phone signal was very weak as well. But that was only a minor inconvenience. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend this motel to other travelers in Haast.

Parking right outside the door limited tv channels it's so isolated perhaps net flix or something similar would be a good idea. The bed was comfortable and the Asian young woman who checked us in was great and provided excellent service. You can't do much about loud neighbors but everyone seems to have them on holiday and this place is no exception.

Great location walking distance to Restuarant and Bar facilities. One room unit with kitchenette, dining & bed in the one room. Was more than comfortable and serviced daily. Plenty of parking and staff friendly and welcoming. Paid $270 for two nights so good value. Lots of walking tracks to explore here.

Motel is adequate for one night stop over. Basic essentials. What it does have going for itself is a spacious entertainment area which has a cupboard full of board games. Shower has okay pressure, check in was a breeze, others from our group stayed at nearby Asure nearby and were not allowed on site to visit us, so we visited them and WISH we had of stayed there! If staying longer would suggest elsewhere otherwise one night is fine.

Located in a quiet rural setting, only a 2 minute walk to the beautiful Haast Beach each. Self-contained studio motels and family units. A few minutes drive to local eateries and on the road to beautiful Jackson Bay.
We stayed here for one night and found it to be a well equiped Studio unit. Very Comfortable bed and great value for money. Due to restrictions we did not meet the Managers, but easy to book and hassle free check in. Across the road is the access to the beach.

Called into the restaurant / bar for a late lunch. Reasonable selection of food and decent coffee Struggling to survive with reduced number of tourists coming to the area at present. Warm fire to help create some atmosphere for the passing tourist and locals
