The beds and pillows were comfortable. Many items need updated. There was no lock coming inside from the western main floor parking. The room was clean but the carpet and refrigerator are old and very dated.

This was just a 2 day trip to visit with family in the area. Have stayed at this location a few other times, always a good stay. Would really love to see a Super 8 located closer to the Rosscmmon/St. Helen Area.

The doors in back halls were never locked to "room key" access only. 24/7 the doors were not secure. There were dozens of disruptive non guests entering building from back entrances to swim in pool. We did not feel comfortable. There was also overflowing trash and dozens of beer bottles along walls outside of building. Eery men sitting in vans for hours each day just drinking. Later found out they were with the people that snuck in back doors to swim. Mold in bathroom. Front desk girl was having to run towels to guest rooms due to lack of staff.

A clean, friendly family-owned and operated motel, cabins, and snowmobiling facility in the heart of the Northern Michigan Woods. We continue to operate the Woodland Motor Lodge as a clean, quiet family motel that has served its customers well for over forty years. We have many repeat customers, and we make many new friends every season. We are located centrally to outdoor activities including canoeing, fishing, skiing, and snowmobiling.
This vintage property specializes in cleanliness plus efficient reservations and room entry codes. This is our second stay in three months as we were so impressed with our initial visit; this is a prime stopping stop as we travel from New York to the Upper Peninsula to help my mom in her assisted living situation. Both times we stayed in Room 27 which is a quiet spot in their back unit. Small business owners who do it well deserve our patronage – put Woodland as your Grayling bookmark.

Unplug and enjoy nature with a visit to this historic fishing lodge! Access the North Branch of the beautiful Au Sable river for some quality relaxation and family time. There is a fully serviced fly shop on the property, as well as guided fly-fishing and wingshooting trips and casting lessons. The history of this lodge is astounding, having hosted The Ford family, the Dodge Brothers, Thomas Edison and European Royalty among others. The Douglas House is truly a step back to a simpler time.
My family (husband, child, and I) stayed here for three nights in June 2020. My husband knew about the inn because his grandfather had stayed there long ago, otherwise we never would have found it! This place is really a gem. While some "historic" bed and breakfasts seem cliched or overdone, this really is the real deal. It is like time stopped. Each room is unique and includes lovely historic objects. The shared areas are comfortable and Judy, the host, does everything she can to make guests feel welcome. The river right out front is great for fly fishing and if you walk up river a bit, you can swim. Breakfast was filling and hearty. We could have stayed much longer and will be back! Note: there is no a/c (fine for us) and bathrooms are shared (also were fine).

We do a lot of traveling with our concerts, so we try to get cheaper places to stay that are not terrible... So, I always cringe when we first go into the room we got. I got in, and it looked pretty good, very small, but nice. The more I kept looking, the better it got. It is an old motel, but the owner's (husband and wife team), have been slowly working on each room, to get it up to par. The carpet was very cool, sort of high tech browns in various squares, nice fridge, art on the walls, AC didn't smell bad when it was on. BUT the bathroom was awesome. you could tell it was updated, still had the old hot water register, but painted over well, and everything else was pristine... nice tile floor, nice shower, nice sink with water filter underneath. But what impressed me was the way someone took time to really do it right. No weird paint over bumps and tears, no weird cut under door to make it shorter, no sticker marks where a towel handle used to be... it was all perfectly done. Even the caulking was a perfect strip along the floor, shower, toilet, sink... I told the owner that he must have had a good handyman, and he said he did it himself. The yard was nice too, with signs to tell folks to pick up after their dog. I love that they had no smoking or pets normally in the rooms, since I am allergic. And it was very quiet overnight, unlike a lot of places we have stayed, where people gather outside your door and smoke and drink til 2... Then they both let us leave our van there after check out, so we could go do some biking. They have a wonderful paved bike trail right across the road, and we biked about 15 miles to Hartwick Pines and back. What a great morning!!
