Just returned from visiting family and found this on our way up the Ski Centre at the top of the Troodos mountains on the road from the highway near Limassol. This site was originally an old asbestos mine going back over 100 years and the government has been returning the site back to the natural landscape in an ambitious project over many years. You can really see their hard work coming through. Beautifully laid out with pools and streams and all the native trees and plants clearly labelled. They have converted the old schools house into a visitors centre with good public facilities. No café or shops just peaceful. Great information leaflets in Greek and English. Amazing views. Definitely worth the stop.

We came here for a nice trail and were not disappointed. The trail leads around Mount Olympus and can be done also for families with kids (not strollers thou). It is well marked, has benches for sitting and enjoying the view and also you can go past the only ski resort in Cyprus. Be prepared that sunny side of the trail is warm and the other side (towards the street) has limited sun, so can get quite cold if you are late October or November. You can also drive to the start of the trail with car or if you park at Jubilee Hotel - you can walk there (2km each direction). Can only suggest.

While visiting the Troodos mountains you can always visit this Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary that dates back to 1731.

This monastery was not on my list but as I was passing it on my way to Trooditissa decided to take a look. And so happy I did! There is almost no information about the monsatery online though it is also a very old one. And to me it was much more special than Trooditissa because you could feel the holy spirit and enjoy the solitude and peaceful atmosphere. Make sure to pop in their little shop, you will definitely find smth for yourself - I brought some olives. And the nuns are indeed very welcoming!

Make sure you go up into the Troodos Mountains to have a look at this amazing site. We had never seen such a beautiful altar of gold, iconography and devotion. The wall art is also very thought provoking with biblical scenes and a genuine sense of calmness...well worth it.

We made a quick weekend to Paphos and we heard that the Troodos mountains are snowy so we took a daily trip with a rented car. the area was very beautiful, many small villages around, nice coffee shops and restaurants. i suugest you to take the old road from paphos because is very authentic to view around.

This is a nice ski site, good for beginners. You can rent different kinds of ski equipment and enjoy the snow. Since we are 'beginners' - we spent most of the time near the entrance - enough space for kids to play with the snow and to take some sleights rides. We parked at the place called "Sun Valley". Several minuses drive from Trodos, 20 mins drive from Pano Platres. There is a website which is quite informative: weather, prices, etc. The only issue is that sometimes the road can be open for 4x4 cars only.
