The impressive ruins of a great Phoenician city.
It is one of two archaeological sites in Tyre - smaller one but also beautiful. It is located at the seaside, which gives us a lot of photo opportunities in great scenery. I definitely recommend visiting both archaeological sites, if possible with a guide who can make them alive by telling all the amazing stories about the people who lived and worked in the ancient Tyre.

I visited the Tyre beach few times, apparently it is in the top 5 list of most clean beaches in the Middle East due to its blue crystal waters and sandy beaches!

It is a very nice, traditional Arabic souk. You can find a little bit of everything, clothes, souvenirs, local products, food, etc. For us it was the first souk we visited in Lebanon but not the last. It is a great labyrinth where you can get lost and found many times.

This little church right next to a more modern one is carved out of rock. It is small but lovely. The interior is rough hewn so you really get a sense of how rustic it is. There's even a year round display of the Nativity in a carved out niche near the door. You park on the street above where the new church is and walk down several steps to the plaza where the entrance is. Access is free. If you are visiting Mleeta, this is close by.

It was he...., the fearless Druze Fahr al- Din II - a lover of Italian art and a friend of the Grand Duke of Tuscany - who created in the 17th century this large caravanserai not far from the crusader castle of Sidon on the Lebanon Sea. Merchants, both French and non-French, used to gather in this large courtyard and trade in silk, cotton, perfumes and spices in the midst of elegant limestone arches over which, nowadays, lively bougainvilleas climb and blossom. On the upper floors, the merchants found rest at night, accompanied by the gurgling of the fountain in the centre of the courtyard. Always worth a visit and a short break!

Jezzine Waterfall, known as the fifth highest in the world, recently they have put a gate, but i was lucky to get there before the gate was placed. The best time to visit the waterfall is during winter, because the water do comes from the snow.

In the past it was a religious centre of the region. Today we can admire small but beautiful ruins. Do not expect something as big or as spectacular as in Tyre or Baalbeck, it is much smaller, but at the same time it is also much more peaceful and quiet. The site has great atmosphere. I definitely recommend visiting with the guide who can make the site alive and explain its fascinating history. The mosaic at the back of the site is beautiful.
