My wife and I stayed for four nights here in our motor home. As we though it might be busy we booked two days previously by email (very fast reply) whilst at another campsite, which was fortunate as there were problems for people arriving with no booking. Friendly reception with English spoken. This is a large campsite but is very well set out with motorhomes parked on hard standing with grass in between, and plenty of room for awnings, chairs, etc. The electric is 2-pin and is reverse polarity. There are a number of facility blocks, some better than others. The toilets are situated outside although there is one toilet situated with in the blocks. In one of the blocks the showers are very small, but in another more room. Each toilet does have its own little washbasin with soap dispensers. There is a very good on-site Thai restaurant. There is a short walk to a beach. There is also a train station about 0.6 miles away with trains going into Stockholm every few minutes. Tickets can be bought at the station, 43K each way or 31K concession (65 or over). Overall, would certainly recommend the campsite, as it is very convenient for Stockholm.

Kapellskärs camping has a total of 71 caravan pitches of which 56 have electricity, as well as 9 cabins.
I stayed a week in a cottage with pentry at Kapellskär´s camping, in between 2 kayaking arrangements at Kajak & Uteliv, Gräddö. The site is extremely well run, and the owners are friendly and helpful, and seem to beconstantly developing the place and making improvements. As well as cottages with pentry, there are cottages without pentry, and sites for caravans, RV;s and a large meadow for tents. Service houses with showers, and self service kitchen. My cottage, was very basic, no water, and the facilities, including toilets, are some 50 meters away. That is a fact, but, this was also clearly stated on their web seite, and this is the kind of accomodation this is, and I knew this. This was my first time staying at a camping site like this. There is no other accomodation available in the immediate area. That said, the cottage was nice and well appointed. It was said, to have a basic assortment of cutlery and cooking utensils. Knowing that, I was surprised with how well equipped it was, including water container, reasonably serviceable knives, different sizes of cooking pots etc. And the self service kitchen had some more. I´d advice to bring a stopper for the sink, since that seemed to go missing in the self service kitchen. The camp site is located some kilometer from the E18 and the Kapellskär harbour, in a green nature setting at the edge of the forest, and some 800 meters from the sea. The site is almost within the Riddersholm nature reserve, with access to a number of trails for strolls, and also access to a small beach and a number of coastal trails. As well, within short driving distance to a number of nice coastal villages, and small harbours and jetties. The cottages, have morning sun. Unfortunately, in the afternoon, and the evening, the trees shade the sun so that there is hardly any evening sun. This, was a bit frustrating. The area and the service houses are accessed using a card, that also operates the shower. They give you enough time on the card for any shower or hair wash you need. The camping has a small shop with some basic necessities, some limited amount of microwave food etc, as well as some local produce, a coffee machine and ice cream. And an owner that is ready for some friendly chat. What is missing, is some place for drying clothes. I got the impression, that this is on the owner´s list of future improvements. The place, is absolutely perfect for a nights stay, even a couple of nights, but requires some planning for staying a week.

Welcome to Galo Havsbads. 3,5 Mil south of Stockholm in the middle of a nature reserve, near the beach and sea. Fourstar camping, cottages and hostels. Here you can enjoy the peace, recharge your batteries, wander along the sea and the forest. Summer Front Restaurant, actively ether in high season. Conference and banqueting facilities
The environment of Galo is amazing. Just a 40 minute drive from Stockholm, it offers nice beaches (right next to the camping), and great nature hikes (of which we did several). Its a fun place to travel around in with small children (me and my wife travelled with a 4 year old and a baby). The camping itself is decent enough. Nice and friendly staff and clean plots and communal buildings. Unfortunately the stuga/cabin we rented was ramshackle and expensive in comparison with other stugas we've rented over the past years in other locations in Sweden. Our stuga was near a playground and connected on 1 side with another stuga (this is the common setup for the stugas in the middle of the park). The walls are paper thin, so we could hear every sound the neighbors made (and vice versa), which had us walking on egg shells. The stuga exterior paint was flaky and the window sills rotten through. In the interior, there were two separate bedrooms (one with a 2 person bed and 1 with a bunk bed) and a sleeping couch in the living room. The stuga has no dish washer, a sub-par tv (very old and small), no airconditioning and an old fashioned stove. There also were lots of power outlets at ground level, which made the interior unsafe for babies and small children (we had to put suitcases in front of the power outlets so the baby couldn't reach them). There was a nice porch though with a dining table, which was a nice touch. Also: there were several types of other stuga, and after some conversations with other lodgers some types were more luxurious and new (whilst others were more or less the same). All in all, we did enjoy our stay. However, we've got quite some experience travelling Scandinavia by now and for the money we paid we did expect a bit more luxury.

Just 15km from Stockholm, we find Rosjobaden Camping. A Drive-in campground that always has room for you! Here you can choose to park your caravan, motor home, stay in a tent or cabin or why not in the hostel? Regardless, you can always enjoy the beautiful area surrounding Rosjon. Services include summer play miniature golf, canoeing, swimming and riding in Stockholm's longest outdoor water slide! Several companies have chosen Rosjobaden Camping to place their work RVs, making the campsite is open and staffed year round.
This place gave me a real bad feeling. I just felt like I wasn't supposed to be there for some reason. As we drove around looking for a spot, we noticed lots of old abandoned caravans all over the place, and some real shady types walking around. The whole place didn't feel family friendly and the facilities are below par. The urinals, for instance, are not even separated, but outside there's a sign that reminds you to keep your distance - the irony. Also the maintenance of the grounds leaves much to be desired, and the price is completely unreasonable for what one sees when one arrives. No maps given, park wherever you want, and again... the shady types... what was that about? It almost felt like a homeless shelter. Definitely not what one wishes to see on a vacation trip. Never again.

Skansholmen has a small family campsite in hilly terrain on a ridge with views of Lake Saltsjön from all sides. There are approx 60 pitches, all of which have electricity.
Stayed for 2 nights at Skansholmens Vandrarhem. Warn down but clean. Only one toilet and shower. Outside garden weeds were growing every where, old broken down caravans and trash lying all over. Restaurant had great hamburgers but staff were unhappy and unfriendly. Stunning sea views on both sides but place needs a lift. Unfortunately we could not enjoy a cocktail on the deck enjoying the views as the pub/restaurant closed at 21:00. Never coming back!

Reception was friendly, which you want from a campsite. We arrived after booking a pitch on-line, we had a solar panel and found the pitch was quite shaded so asked to move to a better pitch. Although it was a busy site, they managed to sort us a better site. It was a busy weekend, being midsummer day, it was busy but plenty to do around the area with the town being a 5-10 walk away and the train station is in the town or just up the road from the site. Great bike rides around the local area. The toilets are starting to look a little tired, but they are cleaned every day. The only issue was with the people using the toilets, rather than the campsite not cleaning the toilets. The cafe/bar was ok, but had that greasy joe feel and needed to be updated a little. The beach on site is really nice, but be aware it is used by members of the public too. A public footpath runs alongside the site and it is a open site. At the end of the day, we had no issues with it and used it as a base to explore the area and Stockholm.

Awesome and friendly staff, clean, modern and well-located close to the port of Kapellskär. The best camping I've been so far, and highly recommended to anyone who is passing through or wants to spend a few nights.
