We took a cab from Hakata Station to get to this temple, but I am sure there are better ways if you have more time. This is a beautiful place to see and to walk around the grounds. With its many bridges and monsterous trees, there are great photo opportunities. We were there just before New Year's and there were lots of families out and about. We walked back to the entrance of an amusement park that looked to be wonderful for children. Be sure to kiss the cow statue for good luck as many people were doing that and taking photos. Great place to go. We ttok the bullet train from Osaka and it was a good day trip. Nice area to walk around and explore and very interesting as well.

The tickets cost ¥430 per head to check out the general exhibition area on the 4th floor. We had an English guide explain the architecture of the museum. That's a must especially for architects and engineers. Either way, you really learn a lot about how the Japanese take care of these artifacts. The exhibition itself is in one big hall with a lot of different rooms. But I like how organized and numbered the rooms are. They're historically and chronologically explained. There are English explanations. But there's also a free audio guide that you can get on the 4th floor. An hour here will suffice. Unless you also want to visit the special exhibition which rotates every quarter I think.

Dazaifu Monzen Machi

Provides an excellent transition from the bus station and commercial shopping area to the temple grounds. Must get crazy busy in the Summer, what with all the tourists taking pictures etc.
