A stunning property in the Lake District National Park situated right on the bank of the River Eamont and footsteps from Ullswater. Unwind and relax in characterful and cosy guest bedrooms filled with all the comforts of home. Tuck into fabulous food, hearty and filling, in the restaurant and enjoy a drink in a cosy fire nook for colder days or on the spectacular outdoor terrace with views over the Lakeland when the sun is shining. Part of The House of Daniel Thwaites collection. ** Please note bridge improvement work is due to start in September 2019, but The Crown Inn, Pooley Bridge is still open during this time. **
Over the course of our short family break in Pooley Bridge, we tried to get in to The Crown twice on consecutive days. Both times we were met at the door with a barracade. The pub looked empty, but was informed by the man at the door in a blunt and rather rude tone that they couldn't accommodate us for a drink and that food was about to stop - this was at 5pm. He wasn't interested in trying to explain why we couldn't come in, nor any shred of apologetic tone. So we lleft feeling very unwelcome. In contrast, the staff over the road at the Pooley Bridge Inn were very friendly, accommodating and efficient and we stayed there a good few hours.

1863 is more than just another guest house. Owners Anne and Mark offer their guests the quality of a boutique hotel but with the homely welcome of a traditional B&B. A relaxed, friendly atmosphere encourages visitors to take time to unwind in comfortable surroundings, enjoy locally-sourced, seasonal dishes cooked up by our skilled chef before retiring to the bar for a night cap or to bed for restful sleep.
The food was excellent. Taster menu highly recommended. Stayed two nights, breakfast great. Pre booked what we ate so ready when we came. Bedroom lovely, thoughtful, clean, delightfully decorated. Situated in a lovely village, next to the magnificent Ullswater Lake.

Traditional Lakeland Inn in the Heart of Pooley Bridge, open fires, outdoor courtyard, home-cooked food and 11 en-suite rooms
We had a table booked for 1pm for 7 guests (1was a child in high chair) We arrived early aprix 12:40 but as the inn had not been open that long we thought it was not a problem. The restaurant and outside was filling up but not mega. Drinks ordered and then waited at least 20 mins on top for someone to take our food order. We ordered and then waited over 45mins for starters. We asked where they were and was told "I've just put your order to the top of the pile" after that long!! Starters arrived but we asked for chilli nachos but got chilli fries ...We weren't prepared to ask and get changed after waiting so long! Starters eaten and table partly cleared...more drinks ordered. Again over 40 mins we asked where our mains were. Staff apologies and told be about 10-15 mins. Food arrived. Lamb kofta over cooked and tough, chicken on the hot sandwich was like rubber. Sunday roast the meat was nit of a good quality, vegetables bland and the yorkshire pudding resembled expanding foan and went to powder when cut! Burgers were tasty and so was the fries and side orders. The drinks also took a long time and we had to catch people as they were passing. If its table service then make sure the staff are attentive! Management was very apologetic for the wait.. and we took up the discount offer. If she had not suggested one I would have stated about the wait and quality of food. It is a shame. The pub is lovely with the decor and a good selection of food and drinks. I appreciate hospialty industries have taken a beating but if you have a big restaurant, large outdoor areas then make sure your kitchen can can cope and you have enough waiting on staff and they are attentive. In summertime I would expect a long wait!!

The inn was converted from a row of cottages in the 1700s by the original proprietor Edward Richardson. Since then the inn has changed hands several times, and was taken over in May 2010 by John & Jane McGuire. The Sun is a family run establishment. Sunny by name and by nature, this is one of the most friendly and cheery hostelries in the region. It is a sizeable whitewashed building with grey framed windows, which in summer are draped with vibrantly coloured hanging baskets. Inside, the decor is simple and warm with low beamed ceilings, wooden tables and chairs and wood paneled walls and bar. It has a spacious beer garden and a grassy area at the rear with a fantastic wooden childrens play fort. It also has its own car park, which is strictly for patrons. The Sun Inn is renowned for its Real Ales and has been awarded the Cask Marque and features in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. We offer a wide range of local ales and a constantly changing guest ale and for the non ale drinker there are lagers and stouts.
Staying at Pooley Bridge in Motorhome. Decided to eat at the Sun Inn with 16 other friends. Although the pub was very busy they excelled themselves. The food was second to none and the staff and service could not have been better. Definitely be back, well done to all

This is a nice well mentained camping area, but it's got holiday caravan houses as well. It's got playground for all ages children (minimum 1 year old). The views are amazing and there are farm animals closer too so that the children feel like their visiting a farm. Plenty of olaces to visit, including the lake and the cascade. As a first time, we were amazed and we will definitely go there again.

The Brotherswater Inn is a welcoming Lake District pub, open all day every day throughout the year (except Christmas Day), catering for climbers, ramblers and other visitors to this part of the Lake District. There are seven warm and inviting en-suite twin or double rooms. All rooms are non-smoking and no pets are allowed. The Inn has comfortable seating and three huge picture windows which enable you to take in the breathtaking views whilst enjoying our hospitality. There is also ample outside seating (weather permitting!) in front and to the side of the Inn.
So me and my partner stayed here the first weekend of April 2022. First of all the location is beautiful. This is situation very close to patterdale and the kirkstone pass and has a wide array of mountains surrounding (if mountain climbing is your thing!). There is the smallest lake in the lakes very close by (the brotherswater lake). We stayed in the Inn itself which is in small cozy building beside the road. It is situated within the Sykes holiday park which is also has camping and caravanning facilities alongside bunkhouses and a cottage - all seemed a good layout with good accommodation choices! The inn room - The cleanliness of the rooms was really good, the beds were very comfy. The bathrooms were very small with literally very little room to move around. I wouldn't say this is a problem as such but if you prefer lots of room in a bathroom then you have little space to manoeuvre. My only criticism of the hotel rooms within the inn is that the soundproof between other rooms is not the best. I could hear other guests snoring through the walls and hear when other guests had their TV's on - not good if your are a light sleeper. Staff - Very friendly. Upon check-in the staff in the shop helped us pay the balance as we arrived very early and we had some problems with paying the balance for the first night as my bank decided to reject paying which put our weekend stay under threat. The guys in the shop here were on hand to sort this out and reassure us which was brilliant. Upon check-in itself, the staff in the inn were amazing and so friendly, they offered to carry our bags from our car to the room and ensured we had everything we needed to kick start our weekend. We had a problem with our heating and after reporting they were straight on it to fix the problem! Very good also in the bar/resturaunt of the inn and were on it! - very good staff. Food & Drink - Wow some beautiful food. For the 2 nights we were there me and my partner did the 3 courses, I had some smoke trout and nachos which were amazing. Mains - I recommend the fish and chips and the Cumberland sausage and mash is a must. Both nights had a chocolate cheesecake which was lovely. All the food was pub food cooked to the finest of standards. If you are staying at the inn then bed and breakfast is included with a beautifully cooked to order full English. Drink wise - if real ale is your thing then your in luck, some love local ales. Overall I would say this place was spot on and I will be returning again!

Located on the brow of a hill overlooking picturesque Ullswater in the beautiful English Lake District, The Brackenrigg Inn provides excellent accommodation for those wishing to explore this stunning part of the world. With comfortable guest bedrooms, delicious food and drink and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, this 18th-century coaching Inn is the ideal place for walkers, families and couples.
We stayed for one night and for the price was a little disappointed at how tired the place looked. Everything seems well in need of some tlc, however the food made up for it, the steak and ale pie with their own brewed ale was the most delicious pie I’ve ever eaten and I half hoped to be served it again for breakfast. Plus the views are stunning if you’re lucky enough like us to get a lake view room and it was the perfect place to start and end the Ullswater Way walk x
