Kerachut Beach

Reviewed By nellielim - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The National Park is located at the end of Teluk Bahang Road. There is a fishing village here with a jetty on stilts. Boats can be rented here for excursions to the nearby beaches or for a day of fishing. Hiking trails start from the entrance of the park. A hike to Muka Head will take half an hour or more and to Kerachut Beach at least an hour or two depending on your pace and level of fitness. Along the trail there is a stream with lovely pools. This is a popular picnic site. The forest along the trail contains virgin jungle reserve which is thousands of years old. Forest insects like cicadas as well as monitor lizards can be seen in abundance here.Turtles land and nest at Kerachut Beach between September and February. There is a turtle hatchery and conservation centre at here. At the entrance of Kerachut Beach is the Meromictic Lake which comprise of salt and fresh water. Swimming in the seas off Kerachut Beach should be done with caution as jelly fish are common here. This is a good spot for a day out to enjoy Mother Nature and de-stress.

Batu Ferringhi Beach

Nice beach with clean water, rocks and shady, verdant trees on parts of the shore and all over the distant hill. There are parking spots, a clean toilet for RM 40 cents and showers for RM1. The road is curvy and hilly. Definitely a very pleasant drive.

Monkey Beach

Monkey beach definitely is the famous beach you want to visit in Penang National Park. You need to walk around 1 hour from the main gate. Once arrive, you need to take care of your stuff since there is a lot of monkeys. But the way, you have a chance to do some activities there. For example, water game is provided. Besides, there are areas for camping, you simply have to bring your own tent. Monkey beach is a place that I will return to soon as it is beautiful. Recommender to spend at least one night there with the dreamy sunsets and the liberating murmur of the jungle.

Monkey Beach

Decent trip out around the coast. At the entrance to the national park we tee'd up transport from turtle beach to monkey Beach at a price of 10rm pp. (11ppl). We walked through the jungle/hills for a good 1.5hr with great views along the way. After a look around the turtle sanctuary the boat arrived as arranged. On monkey Beach there's various stalls and beach bars/food. Plenty of monkeys scurrying about who aren't afraid to get close up for pics. Quality trip out for very little cost.
