Seize the beautiful day on the Osumi Island of Yakushima-cho, covered in gorgeous and dense forest that’s said to have inspired the classic anime film Princess Mononoke. Frolic with native deer, red-bottomed monkeys and migratory sea turtles (as much as you can frolic with a turtle, anyway), while you breathe in the sweet scent of ancient Japanese cedar. Yakushima’s unique eco-system is simultaneously subtropical and subarctic, an environmental anomaly that only enhances the unique and special properties of the island.

A dining room, a kitchen, living, a refrigerator, You can use it . I prepared for the room Ashley's queen-size bed. Lighting and furniture imported. Teatime is carried out, looking at a Mottyom mountain on a terrace, or it goes into the open-air bath of the quality of an alkaline spring containing radon, metasilicic acid, etc., -- Please relax slowly.
After travelling in south western Japan for a while this was a perfect place to relax, the gardens are lush, beautifully laid out and have great mountain views, the outdoor spring fed bath took the relaxation to a higher level! The house itself is a lovely, comfortable well crafted building, we dined in, enjoying the quiet evenings, the kitchen has everything you'd need and the Acoop supermarket in nearby Anbo is well stocked. If you don't hire a car it's an easy walk from the bus stop to Hana Mana and the bus service is, as you'd expect, very good. If you enjoy gardens you'll love Hana Mana and you'll enjoy the Botanical Research Park, just a stroll down the road.

We stayed here for two nights as a couple. The staff were very helpful in helping us plan hiking activities, call taxis, return rental car etc. They allowed us to leave our luggage there for one night while we stayed on the mountain. Room was standard Japanese business hotel type room although quite spacious and had all necessary amenities. The dinner featured some famous Yakushima dishes and was delicious. We forgot our camera charger and when we called them the same day they had found it and kindly posted it back to our address in Japan very promptly. Thank you very much Hotel Auberge for a great stay.

Based on previous reviews I did not have big expectations about pension Seaforest but we were pleasantly surprised. If the building looks a bit worn down from the outside it is certainly because of the rainy weather of Yakushima. Rooms (you can choose western or japanese style) are big and clean with a small balcony (the hotel is a bit like a motel style hotel). It is situated in a quiet and nice area on the outskirts of Miyanoura (10 mn walk from the restaurants area / 25 mn walk from the ferry port) and next to bus stop #32 (but buses are not frequent in Yakushima !). Cash only. Nothing to fault if you prefer to stay in a hotel than a homestay to visit beautiful Yakushima cedar and moss forests (you can rent hiking gear - specially hiking boots which are useful to walk on the rocky and slippery trails - in town).

Delicious meals have given us energy and health. Friendly consideration of the hostess has made us relax. All atmospheres have made us feel being in Japan. But, more information in English is necessary.

Stayed here for 3 nights while hiking in Yakushima. Common areas well kept but attached toilets tiny and need a refresh. Food provided hearty and complimentary tea, coffee and snacks are available. Would still recommend.
