This would have been amazing if we’d been a bit more prepared. Great kitchen but stock up before you go to prepare a few meals as restaurants can be booked out or not open. The courtesy shuttle bus is great but busy. Also make sure you arrive with cash as cards aren’t accepted.

This was perfectly good place for our too-short stay on this beautiful 'art' island. Just round the corner from the rather-nice-looking Wright Style Hotel (see separate review of their dining space, Regalo) and opposite a great-looking, super-busy eatery where the queue was out the door but for for which we couldn't find an English name. Our room was the middle one of three, very well equipped and with a separate kitchen area and bathroom... and perfectly comfortable beds. Unexceptable but perfect for our needs.

If you find yourself in Naoshima, this hoestl can be a good option of an overnight stay. It's just a short walk from the Miyanoura Port and across the Tourist info office. A cycle rental, Cinn.a.mon - a hip resto bar, and 711 are just short walk away. Yayoi Kusama's Red Pumpkin is just literally across by the boulevard where is a good place to bike or run around and watch the locals fish or the boats & ferry come & go.

I only stayed one night but it was perfect, the location is right in the middle of the town and only a few minutes walk to the bus station that takes you to the ferry. From the outside is a bit difficult to see that it's a guest house as it is a typical, traditional Japanese house, just the same as the others in the neighbourhood. Really enjoyed my stay and I met really cool travellers there while having breakfast. They do have kitchen facilities, however, they also have a small restaurant cafe only five minutes walk, where I went to, and it was delicious, really cozy, really cute. Reservation is a must , i believe as there are only a few restaurants in town. For a solo traveller is perfect as it's cheap, good location, clean and super safe as most of the places in Japan anyway.

The staff person and owner were very available to help me with WiFi and getting settled. My bit server worked fine in all other places in Japan but not in their guest house. Also the bikes are terrible....despite being told that I could ride around the island ( even though the bikes were not electric) I in fact could not. I am a very experienced daily biker in London but those bikes were useless. V Rey v v heavy and I needed to walk them up to the museum despite being told I could ride anywhere on the island. They are heavy and a very strange design. Ditch the bikes and either get electric bikes or no bikes. Plus I had to pay for them. Also, pillows were extremely uncomfortable...large box shaped pillows that were very hard and high. Please get small soft pillows. Sheets and bedding otherwise perfect. Nice large rooms. No breakfast really to choose from except sliced white air bread. Loved location...but a bit overpriced for a dorm set up.

This is hostel accomodation a short walk from the centre of Honmura. Outside its clear there's no gardeners around but inside was great, clean and spacious. Houses up to 16 in two rooms, we had a 4 bedroom to ourselves. The hosts english was minimal but he managed to explain the house rules pretty well. Beds were time, cooking facilities fine and Wi fi was great. Location was fine, there's nothing too far away on this small island. Would return.

The Ryokan is well located in Honmura and so convenient to visit the art house project. But you have to take a bus or walk 30 min to go to the main port. The building is nice but it's very very noisy. You can hear everything and the doors make a lot of noise. Average wifi and very thin futons.
