The Quinta da Tapada de São Pedro breathes history, rooted in an old Roman stone-walled realm embodying the concept of "Tapada". A centennial olive grove has serenely witnessed the ceaseless evolution in the local environment and society, and continues to watch on as the sheep and goats wander around under the canopies. An orchard and agricultural garden provide fresh fruits, vegetables and even aromatic herbs for a delightful evening tea. The carefully restored houses within the Quinta are deeply influenced by the typical Alentejo architecture, and all accommodations contain traditional features evocative of the farm heritage, while endowed with the modern comforts. A diversity of activities are available at the quinta, as the guests are welcome to enjoy the swimming pool, the barbecue facilities, bicycles, badminton and traditional games. Nested within one of the most important cultural & gastronomical routes of Portugal, the Quinta is located in the agricultural reserve of Vimieiro
Small group of houses with a pool that helps to get relaxed. They make all to make us feel like a friend that has been invited to spend a few days in the countryside. Houses have all confort items but light bulbs are not enought if someone wants to read a book at night. Overall it's great to spend a few days recharging energy.

Pros: local calmo, bonito e silencioso. Possibilidade de ter os animais conosco. Donos, Rob e Eva, atenciosos e discretos. Obrigada Rob e Eva!

Monte das Aranhas is a unique, lovingly-restored farmhouse set in tranquil vineyards with wide-open views of Alentejo. It is one of the few farms practising organic viticulture in Portugal and is part of the sustainable touism movement; the owner is fully committed to developing environmentally-friendly processes. The property has two separate three-bedroomed houses, Casa Mae and Casa Agricola, which have been beautifully restored in keeping with its traditional use as a farmhouse, but also with finesse and taste to offer a unique and stimulating experience. Casa Mae has a large sitting room and an ensuite bathroom in the master bedroom. Both houses are fully equipped with air conditioning, TV, Wi-Fi, wood-burning stoves and full kitchen facilities. We always welcome our guests personally on arrival, and our friendly staff will offer you a complimentary drink and an orientation to the property and the area. A homemade breakfast option is available on request, and guests have full use of all the facilities including bicycles and walks in the private grounds. Monte das Aranhas is situated 16 km from Estramoz and 35 km from Évora; both towns offer days out and sightseeing opportunities. We also offer our guests a wine tasting experience and a tour of the vineyards to learn about some of the eco-friendly practices that go into producing our variety of grapes. So, come and enjoy perfect relaxation in the silence of the countryside, lounging by the garden pool or on the sun terrace. In the evenings or autumn days, enjoy relaxing in front of a fire, reading books from the library or playing board games.

We had read the numerous mixed reviews for this apartment but decided to make it our 2-day stop discovering the nearby cities. Caretaker Antonio was helpful and cheerful. We drove from the opposite direction to the apartment along a narrow single-lane road and missed the sign to the apartment which was facing the opposite direction and thus missed the place twice before we found it. There was one other family in the building and they had late night noisy BBQ party over Christmas till early morning. Our apartment was upstairs and when we moved in there was only one portable heater for the entire place. It was so cold we got Antonio to provide another 2, which still could not warm the place. On checking the doors we realised the sliding doors could not lock. Antonio came back to check but could not solve it and we had to improvise by using the mini golf putter to hold the door close. We then tried cooking but realise there was no electric kettle to boil water and used the pots. They were so old and dirty that require replacement. Water could not boil after 20-minutes and there was a layer of oil after 2 rounds of voiling. So much for cooking. Bedroom was OK but the squeaky metal frame bed should be changed. Bedsheets also need attention as they smelled of cigarette smoke. Could not sleep because of the smell. Worse was the toilet. Water pressure good but the floor perpetually wet as no ventilation and shower screen doors have gaps leaking water out. Overall needs upgrading. Location is out of way. You get what you pay for.
