L'Escale is superbly situated on the riverbank of the beautiful Dordogne river on the outskirts of the charming village of Siorac-en-Perigord. A hotel not as the others with several buildings, type motel in the middle of a park raised furthermore of 14000m2, situated near 2 golfs: Lolivarie 18 holes and the forge 9 holes arrangement in the hotel: warmed and discoverable swimming pool, billiards and bridge room, a television with Canal+ in the bar, meeting room, lingerie customer, table football and games for children, lounge with library and free tennis court
I was getting desperate looking for accommodation since Surlat Another hotel was full but the owner very kindly rang and booked me into the last remaining room. And what a pleasant surprise it was. A bit too family friendly for me but the rooms were exceptional with a nice small balcony. Staff are also exceptionally friendly from reception to bar staff and restaurant staff. Food was great (why go into town) and unlike another reviewer, I was happy with my large steak. Breakfast spread was also very good My timetable only allowed a one night stop and I would have gladly stayed longer. Unlike me - book ahead to avoid disappointment.

We went to this restaurant for my birthday. Being February, many of the local restaurants are closed until spring. Lovely interior and nice and clean. The staff were very attentive and the food was delightful and represented great value for money. We went for the 22 euro lunch menu and had an amuse bouche, a cheese croquette for starter, tenderloin of pork in a caramel jus for main course and fresh pineapple in a rum syrup with passion fruit sorbet for dessert. A glass of wine or beer was included in the price. Definitely recommend!

2018 New Team. The hotel Le Relais du Périgord Noir*** is nestled at the heart of the small village of Siorac-en-Périgord, between Bergerac and Sarlat, next to the main touristic attractions of the region. The hotel offers 41 rooms, among which 3 studios (for 3 up to 6 persons). You can enjoy, free of charge, the covered and heated swimming-pool (from May to September), the sauna, the hammam as well as the fitness room. A free wifi access is available throughout the hotel. The restaurant La Table du Relais welcomes you every day and offers "bistronomique" menus for lunch, gastronomic menus for dinner. Every courses and menus are prepared with fresh products.
While the people at the reception were very nice, there's simply no way to change the fact that the relais had no restaurant, that the wi-fi was spotty, but the biggest problem was the lack of any form of ventilation / AC. Had the rooms had some mosquito netting, we could have opened the windows, but as soon as we did, a few came in. This wasn't the first time this year France had experienced high heats, so we had not thought of checking on Air Conditioning, expecting most establishments to have some form of remedy, including a fan. This was not the case, and a mistake we did not do twice. Had it been an EUR 70 / 80 room, it would have made the discomfort more acceptable, but as we paid around double that, it was simply not worth the price.

25km away from Sarlat, our traditional stone farmhouse is ideally located in a quiet hamlet in the heart of the Black Perigord in the Dordogne. Our B&B features 4 double rooms each finelly decorated and benefits from a lovely bean-shaped pool. A veranda and a playground for the children are also at our guests's disposal. - 2 rooms benefit from a privative terrasse with direct access to the pool - 2 rooms on the 1st floor on the same level which can communicate with each other. Sandrine and Remy will welcome you very warmly and will be happy to help you plan your visits and give you the addresses of restaurants around the area.
Our party of 5 stayed for 3 nights in early June 2017, taking 3x en-suite bedrooms. The accommodation and our hosts Remi and Sandrine were wonderful. We booked direct through their own website, which was very straightforward and we received swift acknowledgement/confirmation. The building, location, rooms, and amenities are all first class. Breakfast is delicious including gorgeous homemade jams, cakes, and yoghurts. Our hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful; Sandrine speaks perfect English. We were attending a wedding at Chateaux de Bourlie; a word of advice based on our experience... hire a car, without one you will struggle to get around (taxis are very few and far between). We had a fabulous break, and thoroughly recommend staying here.
