Stayed one night. Was told we have one of the newly refurbished rooms. It was neat and tidy, but, the shower was disgusting, I nearly vomited and could not shower in there. For a newly refurbished room, I don’t think they had cleaned the shower ever. The doona was a cheap $25 job from Kmart, no warmth from it at all, a big disappointment when it gets quite cold. But worst of all, Jude, the receptionist, charged us twice and once we found it on our bank account, we rang and was told, I will refund that right now and send you through an email to confirm. I rang every day for nearly a week after requesting proof it had been processed. Told every time that it had been done. Finally got another staff member yesterday, and I explained the situation, she looked on computer, and told me that it had not been done, Jan quickly rectified it, sent us an email. Jude lied every time I rang, telling me it had been done. I would never recommend this place to anyone from this experience

Scamander Sanctuary offers a tranquil bush-like setting on either powered or unpowered sites for your Motorhome, Campervan, Caravan, Camper Trailer or Tent. Or if you prefer our unique Safari Cabins can sleep up to 6 with full ensuite facilities, kitchenette and the use of free electric bbq's. WIFI is now available to guests.
The glamping tents are really well set up, they are warm, amenities are clean, functional and roomy. There was enough room for our son in the in the en-suite tent, we had a floor play space and still room for his cot. We loved the bbq on the deck. We will definitely be back and have already recommended you numerous times.

Appreciating over Easter rooms are at a premium but for the price paid we were very disappointed in our rooms. There were multiple smokers surrounding our rooms who smoked outside our room from morning till night. We could not even use the balcony at all as there is no privacy as you are basically on top of each other. It was very intrusive. The kitchen is very cramped and we found the facilities lacking- ie the kettle was filthy. Location and view is great, i think if we had paid less we wouldn't have been so disappointed as we certainly expected more:

Carmen's Inn at the Beach, Scamander is just the bees knees. It has all the comforts of home without being over the top and pretentious. You can kick your shoes off at the door then walk in and lay back on the couch while one of the kids makes you a hot cuppa! We are smack bang in between all the good bits that you need to see on the Great Eastern Drive of Tasmania: Bay of Fires, Freycinet & more.
We stayed in one bedroom unit 2 - there was a single bed in the living area also. The kitchen was a bit dated and didn't have much wiggle room, but everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom has been recently renovated and was good. We would have liked to have had a coffee table in the living room. Vicky was on hand to help if needed and was very friendly.

Stayed 3 nights in aa cabin. We self catered and it was convenient for that. The cabin is large enough, clean and comfortable. It had all the appliances we needed. Though we found it strange that glasses, utensils, and dinner plates didn’t match. Something so simple to rectify. Wifi was also spasmodic or non existent in the cabin. Overall a pleasant stay and good value.
