Long-awaited return trip was as enjoyable as my first stay. This time I was in a suite, Jardin, rather than an individual cottage but it was just as private and just as quiet. Even had its own lovely garden path and a private deck. As always, a wonderfully luxurious base for a brilliant walking holiday: great spot to head either south towards the 1,000 Steps area, or north towards Mt Dandenong. Also an easy walk into Sassafras by either a bush track or the footpath that runs along the main road. So rare in the Dandenongs to be able to get around easily without a car. Enormously thoughtful hosts as always, and a spectacularly well-equipped kitchen ... puts my one at home to shame!

My wife surprised me with a birthday weekend at Dingleigh. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every moment. The cottage has lots of character and charm. The owners are very helpful and generous and offered us an extra night stay as a birthday present. We absolutely recommend Dingleigh. Thank you so much, Pete. J. M. and O.

We spend a few days in Villa Rao earlier this year. There was plenty of room for the whole family and we particularly enjoyed the outdoor entertainment area. The kitchen amenities were well thought out and the bathroom was 5 Star ***** luxury. We loved being spoiled by the local food and coffees and the nearby walking trains made the kids spend a lot more time in the outdoors. We will definitely be back!!

? #Introduction Booking and subsequent communication: This cottage is run by Lotus Lodges. The majority of communication was with them. Whilst calling was a challenge, my pre-visit questions were answered promptly when I sent in an email to Lotus Lodges. The same is true to the text message communication during our visit. Parking: There are clear instructions on how to park, to ensure next door (also run by Lotus Lodges) can comfortably park too. Whilst this was a small parking spot, we got the hang of it. The street itself was fairly quiet as it was a no through road. Entering theProperty: There is a small porch with a seat, and an auto light which comes in handy for the night time. There was also a wood bin full of wood for the fire. ?The Rooms: First room – Sitting room: This is where the fire place is. We didn’t need the fireplace so cannot comment on it’s usability, but there was definitely wood. It was made clear that the fireplace is not meant to be a heating option (there is a heater in the other room). It’s just for ambience. There were two comfortable chairs in front of the fireplace and some books to read. Second Room – Bedroom. This room had a double bed. I believe there was also a fold out bed in the lounge room sofa but we didn’t use this. There were touch lamps on either side of the bed. Everything was in good order. Third room – Kitchen: The kitchen has a full stove and oven which is why we chose this place. Microwave oven too. The drawers were full of every pot, plate, and utensil you would need. We noticed the rangehood was not working – and Lotus Lodges later confirmed this would be attended to after we vacated. There was one roll of paper towel. We were staying for 7 days so we had to get more. Forth Room –Lounge: The lounge room had a tv, and DVDs to watch. Wifi was available and working. There was a heater and air conditioner which we used during our stay. Fifth Room – Bathroom: This room had a spa bath and shower as well as a toilet. This was a very tiny room, not much room to put toiletries, but manageable. When using the spa, we noticed leaves or debris coming out of the jets when we turned it on. There were two rolls of toilet paper. We were staying for 7 days so we needed to get more. Backyard: There was a porch and a seat outside, aswell as being well-lit. Throughout: We found quite a few spiders inside and out (quitter normal for the area). There were two empty cans of bug spray (not sure if this was left by Lotus Lodges or the last tenant) but we had to buy additional bug spray (it was a good investment). ? #TheyDoThisWell Easy communication via email and text message Full kitchen, air conditioning and heating. Quiet neighbourhood. We got the whole place to ourselves. ? #OpportunityForImprovement Please supply a good amount of bug spray for the regular bugs and spiders in this area More toilet paper for people staying more than 1-2 days More paper towel for people staying more than 1-2 days ? #Conclusion Great place to stay. Will do it again.

A pleasant enough place to stay with quite a large apartment consisting of a sitting room, bathroom and bedroom. The included breakfast was do-it-yourself with a rather odd set of choices. Bread, yoghurt, cheese slices, ham slices and eggs, but no cereal, fruit, or fruit juice (there was some 'fruit drink'). To cook the eggs there was only a complicated poacher. And there was no salt or pepper for seasoning. The cutlery was quite dirty. Although it was summer when we visited we found the place quite cool. There was a remote control that seemed to be for the A/C but heating did not appear to be an option. I would not want to visit in winter. It is a bit out of the way with nowhere very close to have dinner. We went to Monbulk, around 11 km away where there are a few places to choose from. Overall, I would not recommend Will's Wonderland, especially considering the price which was the most we paid for anywhere in our Victorian holiday; more even than an apartment in the heart of Melbourne.
Historic house with four self contained cottages, surrounded by lush gardens and rain forest.
