"Le Chatel" is ideally located to discover the AUVERGNE and in particular : VULCANIA at 15 minutes Clermont-Ferrand and its historical center at 2 km The Puy-De-Dome at only 4 km et many other typical places (cheeses, castles...) The hotel is just 2 minutes walk from the ROYATONIC SPA and is over a beautifull park where flows the river "Tiretaine".

Reviewed By Ray AAn average hotel whose performance is in line with its price. I would have appreciated more variety for breakfast : i.e. different types of cheese, fruit, dried fruit etc. Over 5 days the items offered were always the same.

A strange hotel
Reviewed By L0nd0ntraveller46First of all, a tip: One enters this hotel not on the street, but around back, at the parking lot. Second, although the hotel is very modern, it has the smallest rooms I have ever experienced (outside, perhaps, of NYC). There were no drawers to unpack, no luggage rack, nothing except a tiny closest where you can hang up perhaps three shirts and a jacket. The bed filled the bedroom, and apart from a desk, that was pretty much it. The restaurant is very expensive and a bit pretentious, and the desk clerk was not the friendliest person I met in France. You pay big time for breakfast (though the breakfast host couldn't have been friendlier.) All in all, I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Reviewed By keenz65Found site eventually after all Satnavs got confused. It would help for site to add directions to their Website. Staff were very helpful after a confusing time locating pitch due to presence of old numbers!! Nicely wooded site with pitches randomly amongst the trees. Toilet block excellent. Good Motorhome driveover facility for grey water and fresh water tap. Nicely located for trip to Puy de Dôme.

Quite a surprise and lots of fun!
Reviewed By rbinsydneyWe did a very 'last minute' booking (on the day of the stay) and were very surprised and delighted at our 'find'!! The rooms was amazing and very quirky (very French), with life size statues and a slightly bordello theme - quite charming. Also, the room we were upgraded to was actually a suite with a separate sitting area. We opted to dine in, and the 8 course degustation was one of the best meals we had in France - just delicious (I was asking for recipes!). We took a lovely little walk around the grounds and beyond next morning and wended our way across France. We didn't breakfast at the hotel. Only down side is, as a family business, the reception isn't always manned and we had to ring to attract their attention. No matter! Very impressed; definitely can recommend and would stay again if in this area.

Reviewed By Goodtravel52Good room, warm welcome, good breakfast, comfortable room, good warm welcome, very good dinner with choice, just a little problem to park the car in this area. The hotel is right in front of the spa for those in need of treatment.

Reviewed By v_roniques732Malgré un accueil agréable, les appartements donnant sur le boulevard sont très bruyants. Impossible de dormir les fenêtres ouvertes malgré la chaleur. Dommage, car l'emplacement est idéal (arrêt de bus tout proche, randonnées, ...) et l'appartement très propre et très bien équipé.
