This is the best hotel in town I could find. They gave us a double room on the 9th floor, plenty of bench space in the room and in the bathroom, a nice shower with plenty of hot water, comfortable bed with a doona, the only improvement I could suggest would be carpet on the floor (we were there in July). The location is great, smack bang in the middle of the down town shopping area. The only unpleasant surprise was a US$10 per day fee for parking, however, for this they provided a caddy service where they parked the car for you in their garage. Complimentary coffee and Iced water i the lobby was nice, and the staff I found to be friendly and professional. For all these reasons this hotel get my seal of approval with five big stars.

Nice rooms, great bathroom, Nice common areas. Lacks staff to help with luggage. Breakfast nice, but not great. Restaurant great. NEGATIVE: the gym should open at 6, but the managers were late. The two treadmills were in terrible condition, everything looked good, but it was just appearance.

We have a home in Montevideo and decided to take a short trip to Rivera to do some shopping for our apartment. We chose Posada del Bosque as it had good reviews, was not a hotel downtown and the rooms looked charming. We were not disappointed! The posada is set on several gated acres and the residences are contained in a single clay brick building with covered terraces. The interior of the rooms are also brick and the floors tiled. The owners are very friendly and the WiFi worked great! There also is a tennis court but we really did not look at it. They say they have a pool but we never saw it. The breakfast is served in a separate glass and brick building steps from the residences. Fresh whipped Strawberry/Mango/Pinapple juice, tostada, meats, rolls, pastries, coffee, tea and cheeses. They will also prepare eggs for you if you like. Overall, it was a great choice and we really enjoyed our stay. It represents very good value for the money and is about 2 miles from downtown. We found the best duty free shopping to be at Sineriz Shopping which is only 5 minutes from the posada on your way downtown. In the shopping area, there is also La Pediz, a very well know parilla based in Montevideo.

Almost stayed here. Checked in and went up to my room only to find a stark, barren room bereft of any amenity and barely any furniture. The closet was a shell without any insides, the wood parquet floor is an indication of how much this hotel has given up. 30 years ago this was probably nice, now after so much neglect the floor clearly has been repeatedly exposed to water and is rotting away. I could have actually stayed here, but it just felt icky and downtrodden. It's a roof, but not if I have a choice.
