Reviewed By bndaba887688The property has a lot of roses and trees. It feels very relaxing. The staff is very friendly and professional. The breakfast very good. Very close to Umfolozi-Hluhluwe national park which is a must see for Game lovers.

overlooking the Umfolozi flood plain and bordering on a private game reserve,Umfolozi River Lodge is the ideal getaway for bopth the businessman and family alike,location,approximately 30 minutes from St Lucia,the Richards Bay airport.Hluhluwe Game Reserve makes it the perfect base from which to explore all the Zululand has to offer.Umfolozi River Lodge is a birdwatcher's paradise with beautiful walking trails along the Msunduzi river passing through litchi,pecan and macadamia nut groves.Large aviaries of exotic birds and Koi fish ponds surround the lodge while the rabbits and other small farm animals are sure to delight both the young and old. Our overnight facilities consist of 5 camp sites,all equipped with water and electrical points and 4 by 4 excursions are on offer for the enthusiast.
This place was once a great place
Reviewed By ssradebeThe room was not prepared in advance. Under the pillow, there were lizard droppings, a lot of them. The room was generally very dusty. This triggered a sinusitis I never knew I had. This place has no electricity, so they use a generator. They switch on the generator in the morning and after for about 3 hours each time. When the generator is off, so is the water pump. So no toilet no taps work for atleast 18hr each day. Breakfast was prepared with love though. The hostess is friendly. Unfortunately, that's not enough for me to ever ever return to this place.

From the initial walk through with Anthony to checking in, felt looked after. I admit that I'm a traveler that needs that attention from my host's and don't like feeling as though I am invisible. The bnb has an amazing pool in the middle of the property that was always clean and the water was superb at night.Also a great place to socialize with the other guests. All the rooms are spacious, clean, have great bedding and the air conditioning is a must have in the kzn heat. Breakfast was always made to order and Anthony and the staff were always available if we needed anything. Price is reasonable and well worth it for the service you get.

Reviewed By 334ravenEn-route to the hotel, you travel on gravel which will cast some doubt in your mind on weather you are lost or have taken a wrong turn. We stayed close to the main reception so on route to the pool felt it is was miles away. Room is basic with NO bar fridge. The shower has no privacy apart from a see through glass door, felt a bit weird.
