August 4, 2022 Brandee Mangan

Lihue, Kauai's capital city, is also served by the island's only airport, making it the most popular port of entry to Kauai and a hub of industry on this small island. However, Lihue retains its island charm and emerald beauty despite its urbanization. Spend the day sunbathing and dipping into the temperate waters at Kalapaki Beach before enjoying a luau at Kilohana Plantation. Step out of town to witness breathtaking Wailua Falls cascading over tiered stone to a drop of 80 feet.

Relaxing

This hotel is very nice and not too crowded. The pool is wonderful and large and there is plenty of room around it for everyone. We rented a palapa around the pool one day and around the beach another. It was so relaxing! There are restaurants and shops in walking distance and at night the tiki torches light up the bar and pool area. The renovated rooms were nice and overall the place was wonderful. The only downside is that it’s very pricey and the rooms did not have enough drawer space.

Bring shoes to shower in

Checked in with my wife for a few nights while we visited friends on Kauai. From the outside, looked promising - grounds fairly well kept, tiki torches, polite staff... Then we get to the room. It. Was. Disgusting. Both the tub and toilet were stained. Thank goodness we had clorox wipes to clean the toilet which had remnants of a former guests "experience" on the bottom side of the seat. Found someone's hairs in the tub, curtains were stained. I showered in sandals. We kept feeling something crawling on us, found a huge dead roach in the room on the last day, it was probably his friends that had been visiting us. So glad we were only here 3 nights, I couldn't have taken another one.

Amazing stay

Me and my family had the pleasure to enjoy this BEAUTIFUL resort. We were wowed by the great hospitality the staff gives, from the minute we pulled up I was greeted by a kind gentleman I asked if I could possibly check in early, he said it would be no problem as long as my room was ready and he’ll be glad to help take my bag up. I then proceeded to the front desk where I was greeted by Shanice she was happy, smiling and very so kind. She made conversations with me as if we already knew each making my first encounter into the resort very welcoming. We were able to check in early and she was happy to answer any questions and explain everything I need to know about what was included in my reservation and asked if I needed anything to please let her know. I also had the pleasure to cross paths with Frank and Lucinda from Naupaka Breakfast there on the resort. Lucinda made sure we were comfortable and tooken care of, she check up on us often even though she was not our server. Frank is friendly and super happy the best server I could ever ask for. My room absolutely amazing clean and perfect! I can’t wait to go back and stay at this beautiful resort again. Thank you Lucinda, Frank and Shanice for making us feel welcomed and being you ??

Not up to Marriott standard

Reviewed By alpw

My husband and I were in Hawaii over the Christmas holidays. We stayed at this Marriott resort for 5 days. We have been Marriott Bonvoy members for many years and Marriott Vacation Club members for about 4 years. This resort was a disappointment. First, the good parts. The room was spacious as was the bathroom. There was plenty of towel racks and grab bars. The bed was comfortable. The resort was nice with a large pool area with lots of seating. The bad parts: this resort is a series of high rise buildings and not all of them are Marriott. Sonesta owns (or runs) some of the other buildings. The beautiful marble check in area is not for Marriott, but for Sonesta. Marriott's check in area was in the back of the building (a good hike from the front) in what looked like a small conference room. The buildings and the rooms look aged. We felt as though we were second class guests. We couldn't charge any restaurant or pool charges to our room. We weren't even waited on at the pool area, even when the couple next to us was. The waiter purposely looked at our towels and wristbands and walked away.

Cockroaches! Two different rooms/buildings

Reviewed By LisaL439

We checked in late for our one night stay so office was closed and we could not change the room. We found 3 cockroaches and could only catch one to kill it. The next day we complained to the lady at the counter and she was going to get us help but the Manager did not contact us. We said we are coming back the following week and did not want to if our room then would maybe have an issue. We asked when they spray and if they can assure us our room will be ok. So now we are back here in a different building and again COCKROACHES!!!!
