The Harrietville Hotel Motel can be found in the old gold mining town of Harrietville. Immerse yourself in our scenery, breathe in some fresh mountain air and sample the gourmet delights that the Alpine region has to offer. Our 24 refurbished family units are situated in a pleasant garden environment opposite Tavare Park and the beautiful Ovens River. Grab a bite in the air-conditioned Redgum Bar and Bistro, our on-site bistro, where the menu ranges from delicious, homemade style pizzas to more specialised cuisine. The pub bar stocks an extensive selection of local wines and draught beers. The Harrietville Hotel Motel caters for individual holidaymakers, social clubs and coach tours. We offer group packages, which can be personalised to suit your holiday requirements. We also cater for weddings and functions.
We rode from Bright along the excellent bike trail (it is slightly uphill so the return ride is a breeze!). We almost returned without visiting the pub and that would have been a big mistake, luckily the lure of a rewarding beer was too much. The hotel was warm thanks to both the fire and the welcome that we received from the staff. We had simple and delicious meals - curry and spag - which hit the spot. Good range of pub meals. It was only 14 degrees but looking at the outdoor area I think it would be a great destination in summer too. The HH was definitely my idea of a great country pub.

Dropped into the Snowline Friday night on my way up the hill as I’ve done for years now. I walked in and it looked like everyone had just been to a funeral. No music and no atmosphere. Not many locals either. Had a chat to one of the locals that I knew to get an update on Hotham and the road. Tried to have a chat and it was hard to hear with both TV’s blaring with the footy. We had to step outside to hear properly. Hopefully this was just a once off and when I return it’s back to the vibrant pub it was.

Shady Brook cottages are stylish self contained alpine cottages, there are 2 one and 2 two bedroom cottages. The two bedroom cottages have a spa and wood fire. The property is set on 14 acres, half of which is extensively landscaped with a spectacular and vast array of shrubs and trees. Every season has a spectacular display of color, with thousands of exotic trees, shrubs and vast displays of bulbs in season.Set on the Oven river with a backdrop of mountain ranges, but only 500 metres from the centre of Harrietville you are offered secluded and unique accommodation in an amazing Alpine setting. Within 45 minutes of Mt Hotham and the famous high country wineries, and right on your doorstep are the iconic Mt Feathertop walks. A family business that offers you a personal service and cleaninless of the highest standard.
We will like to see the autumn colours of Bright so the first accommodation that springs to my mind is Shady Brook Cottages as we had fond memories of visiting Shady Brook Cottages during its Spring Open Day many years ago. I called the hosts John & Anne and was fortunate to get a booking for a 2-room apartment over the April to May weekend. This is located on the second level, above the office and where the hosts stay. The balcony offers a magnificent view of the very well-maintained gardens, which show a splendid array of autumn colours ranging from yellow to orange, red and crimson. You can see the rolling Mt Feathertop in the background and the sun rising behind it in the early morning. There are a couple of outdoor picnic tables and furniture decorating the gardens. There is a hilly walk trail around the property, vegetable gardens and ducks. The ovens river runs just outside the property and it is a short 20min drive to Bright. In Harrietville, the Mountain Fresh Salmon & Trout Farm as well as the Tronoh Dredge Swimming Hole, with its very scenic water reflection, are worth visiting. The hosts provide a free complimentary daily breakfast of substanstial portion, including eggs, bread, jam, fruits, juice, cereals and milk. They are excellent hosts whom I strongly recommend. For us, we absolutely enjoy our stay there!

Avalon House was built back in 1889 with the gold rush for the Mine Managers Residence and is one of the original old Harrietville homes. With 4 private courtyard apartments is great for couples or large groups. The home has operated as a Guest House, School Camp, Gallery, Cafe and Pizza Restaurant. It is now back to its beginnings as a guest house only and running in the same family since the 1940s. Set on a couple of river front acres in the heart of town. Central to all the village amenities it is great for family gatherings or quiet retreats. Avalon House is set on the Ovens River with common garden areas including BBQ's, Fire Pits and Swimming Holes. Access to push bikes, kayaks, video and board games can be arranged by a small bond. Check in is via a key safe with husband and wife team on site making sure you have a private and relaxing stay. We are out of the way but not far away.
Just spent two nights there for a girls weekend in two cottages, the cottages have everything you need and are spotlessly clean. Nice outdoor area and furnishing, beds where comfy with great bedding. Would recommend staying here.

Set on 6 pristine acres of land at the base of Mt Feathertop, and neighbouring the Alpine National Park, Feathertop Chalet offers a variety of adventurous and educational alpine experiences over both summer and winter. We have 3 separate lodges available with each lodge sleeping up to 96 people. During school terms, we operate mostly as a school camp making the most of what our beautiful region has to offer but during our downtime, we like to be able to offer our lodges and our facilities including our indoor heated pool and tennis courts to families and groups. Each lodge has its own character and charm and each features a large lounge and self-catering facilities including a BBQ. In each lodge, we have 8 ensuite family rooms and 4 x 2 bedroom twin share rooms. Beds will be made and towels provided.
The accomodation is basic, clean, well appointed. Each chalet has a kitchenettes and common room with tv. There is a indoor pool too.. A large hall can be used for party space. I love coming up to Harrietville. Check out Grannie Pantry which is just up the road, a pleasant walk. Yummy homemade chutneys & jams.
