Great convenient location, relief from the Iowa wind
Reviewed By Fafalios Family RThe hotel was great, not packed at all, rooms were very comfortable and clean. The area was well-kept and breakfast was great. Cable and internet worked great, everything we could have asked for. Only annoyance which is no fault of the hotel, were the ticks outside in the tall grasses. We let our dog run free out there and we just happened to be there right in the spring April/May tick season.

Clean, quiet and close to highway
Reviewed By chimomoftwoI stayed here on a work trip for a client right across the street. The location was super convenient - right off the highway. Rooms were clean and quiet and the breakfast was fine. If you need to stay in the area this is a solid stop. I've stayed at the Comfort Inn next door and prefer this property for cleanliness.

Hotel Grinnell is an adaptive reuse of the old junior high school in downtown Grinnell. The building was erected in 1921 as an addition to the high school, with three stories of classrooms, a large gymnasium and an auditorium. The high school was torn down in 1980, but the newer junior high was saved and remodeled into a community center that housed various offices. After years of being widely underutilized, Steve Holtze and Angela Harrington purchased the beautiful building from the city in 2016 and set out to re-purpose it into a boutique hotel and event venue.
Quiet penthouse suite stay satisfied

Very few people were staying at the hotel and we think we would go back with a group on another occasion for more vibe. We stayed in the penthouse suite and enjoyed the large tub.

Very Disappointed
Reviewed By catherineoU3105NMFirst our room door did not close properly. The outside door on the north end of the hotel was propped open so anyone could get in. Then our tap water began to run brown. Hotel gave us bottled water as they said it was UNSAFE to drink. Breakfast was minimal. Juice machine was broken. Just a bad experience all around.
