A historic family home nestled in the grassy Karoo surroundings and not too distant hilly mountains Bethulie Guest Farm offers the discerning traveller a welcome stopover and retreat in the quiet Bethulie surroundings. Designed by the renowned Architect Sir Herbert Baker the Bethulie Guest Farm has been lovingly restored and stylishly furnished with the original wooden flooring throughout and traditional South African ‘stoep’ on which cocktails and sundowners are enjoyed whilst overlooking the wide open spaces. The small town of Bethulie offers several historic sites and a number of small restaurants. Hectares of pecan nut trees are cultivated on the grounds whilst homegrown vegetables in season, salads and hearty meals are served fresh from the farm kitchen. Meals can be planned and catered to individual requirements on request. We look forward to welcoming you to our home!
We wanted to travel slower than normal with our one year old. Bethulie is not a destination town by any means, but the farm is a beautiful off-the-road option for overnight stay. We got there at sunset and it was very beautiful. The house is old-worldly and generous, the hosts were extremely welcoming. Will stay here again for sure. Single beds in family room a bit uncomfortable

We stayed at Old Watchmakers on 7 April 2021. Right from the minute of booking our requests and booking was followed up. We got advice on everything we asked, up to numbers of places to eat. The guest house was clean and our room was well thought out and very comfortable. Breakfast was superb and the staff was friendly and helpful at all times. Very central and safe. A definite winner.

This charming Country style guest house, rustic ‘Farmers Cottage’and quaint Farmhouse is nestled in the beautiful and historical town of Bethulie. Hidden between typical, picturesque Free state koppies it is the ideal setting to clear your mind and experience true Karoo hospitality whilst enjoying the fresh air and spectacular views. A sparkling swimming at the main guesthouse where you can cool off after a long drive or just relax in a beautiful garden and enjoy the sound of pure nature.
What a gem this overnight stay was. The home was warm & cozy with a gorgeous bathroom. Everything was spic & span and in place. We will definitely be back - hopefully in summer so that we can enjoy the garden and braai area too.

We went to Bethulie on our way to Johannesburg. Oppie Koppie is situated on the top of a hill overlooking the area around the Gariep Dam, quite spectacular. Hestel is a very special hostess and went out of her way to make us happy. We intended leaving early without breakfast but she insisted we had to eat and whatever time we chose. Her garden is absolutely beaiutiful, not only for the flowers but the birds. The room was comfortable and had all we needed. A little off the beaten track, but worth the detour as well as eating at Die Ou Kar in the town

Bethulie is perfect place for stay while taking long journey from Gauteng to cape. Location of stay is perfect & peaceful and Linte took great care of us. Beds were comfy and eveything was availble which was needed. Bathroom was very big and beautiful too. Morning begins with chirping sound of birds and we could see different type of birds in garden.
