The rooms are incrediably clean and tastefully decorated with highgloss wood floors and granite bathroom and a view of the hilltops from lying in the bathtub. The owner is very knowledgeable and friendly. We orginally planned to stay only one night but it was such pleasent stay, we decided to stay another night

Luis is a good host and very helpful. Although, it would be nice to make a cup of thee in the evening, some watercooker and cups in the room. Also, I would not change the towels every day and save on that and would forsee a waterbooiler, some glases and cups and biothee. No plastic cups plse. Could be a little cleaner also but breakfast was fine and thx again for the fresh lemon!

Nestled in the green valley of Alvados, surrounded by the imposing limestone massifs, Casa dos Matos is a modern restoration which blends in harmoniously with the surrounding village, and which provides a base from which to explore a region of outstanding natural beauty.Situated in the villlage of Alvados in the Serra de Aires e Candeeiros Natural Park, about 1 hour drive north of Lisbon, and close to the coast at Nazaré.
Me and my boyfriend stayed at The Nest - Cooking and Nature Hotel for 3 nights and we had an amazing experience. The room was incredible, all in clear wood, simple and beautiful decor. The view of the room was the beautiful Serra de Mira d'Aire e Candeeiros. I asked to stay in a room with balcony and was the best that I could have asked for, we enjoyed breakfast by morning and a gin by end of the day in the balcony, and it was really nice. The swimming pool was really nice, such as the surroundings. In was very peaceful. I really recommend it!

I selected this " youth hostel" for our trip to Fatima. I read it was near to our ultimate destination without having to pay the inflated prices for the special October 13 celebration at Fatima. And i am pleased that it turned out to be the right decision. This hostel was full of older Portugese people who also came for the celebration and must have known the "inside" story. This hostel looks stark/ minimalist from the outside and i would describe the white , contemporary decor also as minimalist. The hotel is situated in a small town , in the middle of beautiful mountains, among olive trees and stone cottages. It is also surrounded by beautiful caves that people can visit. We found it thanks to signs posted in Porto de Mas, the big town nearby. There is no restaurant in this town in the middle of nowhere, but we were sent to the next village where there was one little restaurant with the owner and his wife prepairing for us a great home made , typical Portugese meal. The whole thing with drinks cost us 15.00 euros for two persons. Back at the hostel, we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing evening, wathing the sun set over the mountains and talking to the lovely people at the front desk who were also extremely helpful. There is no tv in the room, but there is a large communal living room with tv. The amenities are basic, extremely clean and charming in a minimalist way. They provide soap and clean , large towels ,but that is it. I Should note that there was a chair lift for disabled people as well. The breakfast, which they moved from 8:30 to7:00 to accomodate us was nice with fresh rolls, meat, yoghurt, cereals, etc. again very satisfactory especially given the price. This is a far cry from my college days at youth hostels. Apparently in Portugal there is a network of such hostels and we are ready to try another one in Porto given our good experience with this one.
