HOSTEL Co-EDO is located 10 minutes away from JR Sawara station by foot and close to the center of the town. We have 4 private rooms and dormitory room which can accommodate 16 guests. In total, we can accommodate 24 guests. The hostel has a cozy atmosphere with a dining room, shared kitchen and outdoor terrace.
The manager Ken was wonderful. This is a real Japanese hostel with not many foreign guests, as not many foreigners visit Sawara. I was a bit worried about the floor beds in our private room at first, but they provided one of the most comfortable cozy nights ever. We stayed at other traditional Japanese sleeping hotels and always said they were not as comfortable as Coedo. It was of course spotless as everywhere in Japan and with a great location, nearest to the train station you could get with still being in "town". If you're not interested in Tokyo, but need a place near the airport, I would highly recommend this lovely town and this hostel. Also, it only costs about $10 to get here, so you can activate your JR railpass for the next day and not pay $38 to get into Tokyo and waste a day on the pass. (also if you can get through customs by 9am, Narita airport offers a free tour of this town, I highly suggest it.)

A good place to stay if you are wanting somewhere close to the airport. The beds were comfortable and the owner was very nice and helpful. Free pick up from the airport can be arranged with the owner, which was handy.

Amazing hostel with really nice owners. It is like staying in someone's home. It's not a crazy party hostel but it is a really good little Japanese experience. Whether you are looking for somewhere to sleep while waiting for a plane or actually wanting to check out Narita (which is a cool little city if you know where to look), then definitly check here out!
