Things to do in Rocky Mountain National Park

This campground is a good base from which to explore the park.
We had a snowy stay at Moraine Park so it was very cold, but that’s to be expected at the time of year we went. There were many sites with great views and big tent areas with picnic tables and firepits. We were unable to purchase firewood. The bathrooms were clean, though there was no running water (due to the season). We also saw an elk around the campground during the day.

We only drove through the campground but we enjoyed seeing what it would be like if we ever decided to go camping in a National Park. It absolutely looked incredible and wish I had the courage to get outside of my comfort zone.

We've stayed at Glacier Basin Campground 3 times now over the last several years. It's one of the best campgrounds in Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes. Great views, clean bathrooms (FYI, no showers or hot water), and well placed camp sites each with their own table and fire ring. Which brings me to the title of my review and the reason it's not a 5 star review. There is an elderly woman who comes in most nights from 5:30-8pm to sell firewood, kindling, and ice cream. Not at 5:25, or 5:29...5:30!!! And don't get in line for ice cream before all the people buying wood are done because "WOOD FIRST!!!" Also, you better have small bills as is $1's and $5's or she will lecture you about the fact that she's not a bank. Wood is $5.50 per bundle, limit 3... And don't think you can buy $20 worth of items and give her a $20 bill because you guessed it...lecture time that she can't make change for other people with that, yada yada yada. Trust me, just bring small bills unless you want a hassle. As is the case with much of the park, they lost a lot of pines to the beetles, but here they have replanted lots of new pines that are growing slowly but surely. You'll enjoy this place, so beautiful and peaceful. Quiet time starts at 10pm and pretty much everyone complies.

No tuvimos ningún percance.

Our 285 acre camp and retreat center offers a wealth of program and lodging options for adult and youth groups alike. Let our staff assist you in planning your next family reunion, meeting, wedding retreat, or educational event in our mountain setting.
We go to this camp every year with a group. This year the food was definitely below our expectations. There was some mystery meat and the food was often cold. The cabins are in need of a good cleaning and some refurbishing. It was difficult to clean one of the bathrooms because the sink was stained. There were wood ants all over the cabin, although the staff did come vacuum them up and spray - but I didn't like them spraying just as we arrived! When we arrived on a Thursday, the camp was empty yet on Friday (as tons of people were arriving) they decided to pain hand rails and benches so they were unusable for a day or two! Ridiculous. There was also a big chart in the lobby about "reducing debt." This seems strange since they have increased their rates on everything reduced their food and service. The location and retreat center are lovely, they just need to be more customer service oriented and take better care of the rest of the property. A note, the zip line has been broken/out of service for five years!

My family and I just spent an amazing weekend at this beautiful 1940's era cabin. It was clean and we all loved it. My kids loved the beds in the loft, and we all slept great in the comfortable beds. The gas stove worked perfectly and there was plenty of room for all. Pine Grove Cabins are under new management now, and the manager was friendly and helpful. I can't recommend this cabin highly enough, and we're all excited to go back.

SCREAMING kids, a BLARING P.A. system, and delivery trucks in the immediately-adjacent private Camp Timberline have, so sadly, wrecked what used to be the best campground in the Park. If you read this review and still decide to stay here during a month when Camp Timberline is open, then you have only yourself to blame ...
