Have just spent a night at this fabulous lodge between etosha and the noordoewer border. The perfect place to stop. The rooms are stylish and have everything you need. Loved sitting on the verandah and taking in the scenary. Wifi worked very well at the main reception and restaurant and bar but we couldn't pick it up in our room. The staff are incredibly friendly. Breakfast was buffet and had a huge choice. We enjoyed drinks in the bar , around the fireplace and then the delicious buffet spread for dinner. The pork and lamb chops were out of this world. We would highly recommend you stop over here.

Hostess was VERY efficient. The curtains could not easily be opened - valance on pole - cannot be moved. Breakfast was average - the hot food is being prepared long before eating time - no choice in egg preparation and coffee cold. All else was good.

Suricate Tented Kalahari Lodge is situated on a red sand dune overlooking a pan system that forms part of the upper Auob wetlands. It is here that one can experience all the romance, all the adventure of the early safari expeditions but with style. The Lodge comprises twelve luxurious walk-in-style tents, well secluded in the Kalahari savannah. Each tent offers a private deck and an intimate open air bathroom with hot and cold running water, flush toilet and shower. A cozy African-style lounge overlooking the vast grassy pans of the Auob river or the pool deck is the perfect setting for drinks and meals.
We stayed here for one night in the honeymoon suite as we were the only guests. What a treat. We had our own pool looking out over the waterhole. We saw springbok, giraffe and wildebeest. We were looked after so well - despite being the only people there. Dinner was so special - they put a table outside at the lodge by the pool with candles. What an exclusive setting. Food was delicious. They catered for me being a non meat eater too. What is not to love about it all. Reginald looked after us like royalty. Such a lovely man. We had to leave early (en route to the Fish River Canyon) before breakfast as we had a long drive laden with rusks and fruit!

Five air-conditioned rooms/units with off-street parking and free Wi-fi. Ideal for all travelers starting their southern Namibia tour.
the guesthouse is very beautiful; each room has its small place of garden in the middle of plants. The welcome of the owner is very warm, excellent advice for walks and restaurants; romantic breakfast on a white tablecloth and I recommend scrambled eggs!...just delicious!

I was skeptical because the entrance to this place seemed so small. But I have to admit, of all the places we went home in these 10 days from Namibia through to South Africa, it was the best place to stay. The prices are very reasonable, service is excellent, place is spacious, clean and everything one could ask for before. Also mattresses for our grandchildren who traveled with us. Thank you very much, would definitely not choose another place to sleep in Mariental again.

A few weeks before driving to Windhoek I calculated that I will reach Mariental at about 8pm, departing again the next morning at 06h00. I searched the internet for an inexpensive room for the night and liked the Mariental Hotel, thinking it may be just what I want – a traditional, old-style place good enough for the night. I mean, how bad can it be? When I arrived, I thought “Oh-oh”. The outside looked really run down, as if it had not seen a coat of paint in years. Youths were lounging around the entrance and noticing a Gambling Room entrance I double checked if I had the right address. Upon entering the dingy, dark reception area I was greeted in a friendly manner by the youths and an efficient-looking lady at the reception desk welcomed me warmly. She knew I was coming and directed me around the building into the secure yard, with parking right in front of my room, number 8. What a pleasant surprise awaited me. The room was clean and tidy, the lounge, bar and dining room areas were tastefully modernized. From the inside no sound could be heard from the Gambling Room and there was no street noise. The staff were super friendly, efficient and made me feel completely at home. Dinner was served quick, in good style and was as good as any at the four-star lodges we usually frequent. I rate this hotel as a pleasant venue.
