We had a wonderful week at Club Med Palmyre Atlantique. It was our first Club Med experience as a family and wont be our last. For a full board the quality and food and drink was exceptional. Rooms and facilities were top notch and the staff were excellent, particularly the mini-club folks who really built great relationships with the kids. Also the entertainment was excellent and always capped off a great day. We'll certainly be abck and are keen to try other club meds.

Sublime!

Clearly one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed in my extensive travel throughout Europe. The building and its peaceful location was what attracted me in the first place, along with their pet friendly policy. I was traveling with my small Havanese dog. The interior of the building has been completely renovated, is ultra modern, and is in complete contrast to the beautiful old structure of the exterior. The room was very spacious, impeccably clean and comfortable, with all the amenities. Breakfast was ample and they were able to accommodate my vegan diet with soy yogurt, soy milk, fruit, and absolutely the most delicious fresh bread I have ever had! They also had a wonderful selection of jams, and high end teas. The restaurant was open several evenings while I was there. The Michelin star chef offered me delicious, exquisitely presented Vegan food, and I was extremely happy to be able to order a wonderful bottle of organic red wine. Piece de resistance, the staff.....Helen, Julien, David, Christine, all incredibly kind, gracious, and really went out of their way to make my stay memorable. All in all, an exquisite 4 nights. I really do hope to return in the near future!

Le Gargantua

Join us for a cooking holiday in south west France. Discover the beautiful region of Gascony, its gentle pace and beautiful produce! Our hands-on cooking classes and patisserie classes are in English (unless required in French) and are designed around you and your specific levels and wishes. There is no demonstration watching, just "real-food" lovers cooking together to produce great tasty food! I teach classic French cuisine as well as French pastry, not by following a recipe to the dot, but by explaining the interaction of ingredients within each dish. We cover all kinds of traditional French dishes and techniques on our seasonal cooking courses, from bread to pâtés, mousses, quiches, stews and sauces. You can also choose to learn to make classic French pastry like eclairs, macaroons, millefeuilles or croissants, on our patisserie courses, and we even offer to show you the ropes on how to prepare foie gras, confit and rillettes on our fat duck course.

Really fantastic week

This is a truly memorable experience! You will never regret booking with these two fantastic cooks. Marlene lead us through a number of dishes over the five days, Tom kept us going with his continuous supply of taste treats, the two of them together created a perfect atmosphere for the courses. The group was all engaged, the experience was interesting and the pace was perfect. It was relaxing, educational, fun and very well thought out. Don't hesitate if you are single, married, whatever, give it a week, you will love it. Thanks again to Marlene and Tom for a fantastic experience!

Very late check in caught us out

Reviewed By mrslmmantle

We stayed one night with our 2 children. Having flown out early in the morning we arrived before noon. Reception took my phone number confirming we could use the pool while our room was being readied. Unfortunately when I went back at 3 reception was closed and I was told room certainly wouldn't be ready before 5 pm. Had I known that we would not have stayed in the hotel complex all day. Reception didn't call and I went back again at 5.45 and we finally got to our room at 6pm. Bar area nice with some very pleasant staff and pool ok but cold. Accommodation basic but fine. Just let down by unusually late check in and early check out (10am) combo. Even knowing I had 2 tired children no effort was made to hurry. For one night you really don't actually get long in the room.

French Photo Fulfilment

Reviewed By Chris N

We have just returned from France having had a wonderful week . Paul Edmunds holds courses based at his converted 17 C house in the hamlet of Les Ages consisting of six or seven houses. This photographic holiday was the best we have experienced because there was a good balance between (1) Photographic opportunities, (2) Tuition in composition and processing the images -- using Raw files rather than JPEG, ---he will provide a hand out of 10 steps in processing (3) Appraisals with suggestions for improving the image and (4) Relaxation after lunch. The studio has 4 Apple Mac computers with calibrated monitors and the latest software of Photoshop CC and Light room. Your hosts Paul & Pam Edmunds are a really nice couple with a genuine warm welcome and we were made to feel at home. They have a docile and friendly dog called Freddie. Paul has recently gained ARPS with a panel. Previously they both lived in the Lake District and he was a master printer. The maximum number of people on the workshop is limited to 4 so the interaction is mostly one-to-one. Paul will establish the day you arrive what sort of genre of photography interests you,and will try to tailor his itinerary to this end. He will also be interested in one's level of expertise and is quite prepared to help with camera settings and Photoshop for the less experienced. A bonus is that at the end of the holiday he will print 4 A 3 of your best chosen images to take home . We visited Brantome several times, which is a delight, Perigueux, and Bourdeilles. We were also offered as an extra, a portrait shoot in a derelict house in Les Ages. Pam is a talented cook and the five evening meals she prepared were beautifully presented and would have done credit to many a restaurant. Wine and drinks are all included. Twice Paul will take you out for lunch in a restaurant probably in Brantome and Perigueux, again all included in the price of the holiday. It is true that really you don't need to spend any money but he does appreciate being treated to a coffee! Accommodation is in two bedrooms with en suite toilet and shower, one with a double and single bed, the other room has a double bed. Tea or coffee making facilities in your room. We were picked up from the airport and taken back at the end of our week for €50 a trip, so it is unnecessary to have a hire car, unless one wants to explore the locality in the afternoons in the time set aside for relaxation or processing the picture. Paul has many repeat guests and we will be one of them .
