March 30, 2018 Florencio Paulino

Wellingborough is a market town and borough in Northamptonshire, England, situated about 11 miles (18 km) from the county town of Northampton. The town is situated on the north side of the River Nene, most of the older town is sited on the flanks of the hills above the river's current flood plain. Due to frequent flooding by the River Nene, the town was mostly built above the current level of the flood plain. Originally named "Wendelingburgh", the settlement was established in the Saxon period and is mentioned in the Domesday Book under the name of "Wendelburie". The town was granted a royal market charter in 1201, by King John of England.

An absolutely fascinating experience.
The museum covers all aspects of Welingborough local history and many artefact of general social history interest. The exhibits are set out in manner that is not sterile but charming. We were there for a few hours, every time we walked around again we noticed something new. We did not have children with us but there were a number of activities laid on for children to participate in and the children that were there appeared to be very engaged.
The books for sale cover a extensive range of topics relating to aspects of history and there is a good selection of gifts to suit 'all pockets'.
The refreshments were reasonably priced and the staff were friendly , enthusiastic and very accommodating.
There was even an display of art by local people.
All this and free admission! !!

It was the school holidays and the boys were bored so we decided that it had been too long since our last visit. The park is a lovely area and there is plenty for the boys to do there.

Great high adrenaline day out. Take a jacket because it can get windy and chilly. Take sun screen because when the suns out there is nowhere to hide. Great food offerings though pricey (festival style) great for kids with free entry but expect to burn a whole in your pocket from the fair ground rides.

Never been here before, my first amateur pantomime and what a lovely place to see it. Very clean, not too big or small, a real Goldilocks venue. Good views from all the seats and the staff were attentive and friendly. Limited food available but the bar was well stocked for the interval. Maybe some big names could play here, I look forward to going again sometime soon. Well done all.

Nene Court

Nene Court is an independent, retail park situated in Wellingborough in what was originally the Wellingborough Gas Light Co. In the 1990’s the early Victorian buildings were converted into shops. Nene Court now houses an exclusive array of bespoke boutiques and food outlets with ample free parking.

Nene Court is open 7 days a week and has free car parking. It is located on The Embankment, just a 2 minute drive from the A45. With little craft shops, cafes, hair salons and the Hart brewers, camping, garden, skiing wear in winter, this is a great place full of little independent shops. We moved into the area and were looking for a hot tub, the reason for our visit. It is lovely and much better than the larger retail parks. The staff in the shops give that extra personal touch and are all very friendly

After making the decision to go to Leicester on Monday we used the train as it's the easier option on arrival we got our tickets with no problems. The ticket office and platforms were all clean and tidy.
