The area encompasses several mines and quarries with quartz, feldspar and other rare minerals. Mineral mine tour areas suited for families. Entry cards are sold in the Iveland commune house. This card is valid for all mines. If you only want to visit one particular mine, you can pay at the mine itself. Self-service ticket payments for visits to certain mines. (Information Boards can be found at the mine entrances). Litjern mine - near Litjern the bedrock is comprised of large amounts pegmatite. Their have been several test explosions where many of the following minerals are found: Feldspar (microcline, cleavelanditt, albite, amazonite), quartz, beryl, gahnitt, muscovite, biotite, micro bit, fersmitt and other micro minerals in fine crystallization. Kjorka mine is the biggest rupture in the area. Solas mining - Solas rupture is a relatively small open pit. It was opened by Olaf Landsverk in 1960 in connection with a major international geological congress. The intention was that geologists from several countries would be able to look for minerals in the newly exploded mass. The mine has recently been run as a hobby for minerals. The main minerals in the mine are different types of feldspar (cleavelanditt, amazonite, albite, microcline) muscovite, biotite and quartz in various colors. The break is also known for beryl, pessartin, magnetite, gahnitt, tourmaline, euxenitt, aunt bit kolumbitt, fluorite and fine crystallized microitt. Steli mining - Steli mining (also called Tveit 3) is a 80 x 30 meters large open pit, where during the first half of the 1900s, operating in feldspar, quartz and mica. The main minerals in the mine are quartz, feldspar (microcline, plagioclase, moonstone), muscovite and biotite. The break is especially known for its abundance of almandin-/spessartingranat. In addition, it found allanitt, bertranditt, beryl, bismuthinitt, euxenitt, ferrokolumbitt, ilmenorutil, chlorite, molybdenitt, monazite, pyrite, co dirt, xenotim and zircon. Slobreka mining Slobrekka mine was operated for feldspar and rare minerals from the beginning of the 1900s. The mine is an open pit with an entrance in two places. The mining area with the tip is in total about 100 x 50 meters. The main minerals in the mine are feldspar (moonstone), quartz and muscovite. The break is especially known for being the discovery place for gadolinite. Since the reopening of the mine in 2002, there was also found aeschynitt, fergusonitt, monazite, hematite, zircon, magnetite, allanitt, spessartin, biotite and bismuthinitt of unusual size. Knipane mine consists of several mines. The mines have been operating since the end of the 1800s and well into the nineteenth century. The area has been open to visitors since the 1980s and a great number of minerals can be found. The main minerals are albite and smoky quartz in addition to microcline and biotite. The breaches are particularly known for the discovery site of a number of rare minerals. Over the last few years it is only in Storsynken been found pyrite, fluorapatitt, titanite, laumontitt, krysokoll, fergusonitt, zircon, amethyst and allanitt. The Kongsberg Mine are among other things, beryl, pyrite, polykras and pyrrhotitt. A total of about 50 different types of minerals have been found in the area, and thortveititt was for the first time ever recorded from a small mine in a Knipane. The prices vary from mine to mine. The price of the common cards are constant: Day pass from 50, - - 100 -
