Visited the Portage WW II Museum on March 25. It is an amazing museum, hard to believe such a gem would be in Portage. We had a wonderful tour, the artifacts are amazing and Brett, the museum operator, had some incredible stories associated with the artifacts. Leave plenty of time for the visit, it is amazing! We’ll stop by again next time we are in Portage.

Just a short update since my first review in 2015.... Aside from the resort being MOBBED on the Sunday of President's Day Weekend, our skiing/boarding experience was great. We skied Devil's Head the day before, and we all concur Cascade is better---better runs, better snow, better lifts and the FREE lift tix for kids are always a bonus! Unlike Devils Head, it's clearly obvious Cascade isn't afraid to invest in their resort.....and they have the crowds to prove it..... Since our last (and only) visit, they've added a lift and a few new nice runs on the east end of the hill.... The only [minor] complaint is i wish they would maintain the outside bonfire better---it got pretty anemic at times..... But all in all, a great day on the snow!

This attraction teaches you about the early 1800's in Wisconsin history in Portage. Fort Winnebago was the midway point between Green Bay and Prairie du Chien during the days of fur trading. Our tour guide was very pleasant and taught us about the Surgeon's Quarters. They have some unique items we have not seen before at other Historic sites.

The Historic Indian Agency House is a museum looking at the history of US/Native relations in the 1800's. It is an interesting antique house with an informative tour that lasts about 30 minutes- not bad for the $7.50 admission. If you're interested in a pretty straightforward tour of a well preserved house, with a smattering of history, it's a good trip. My biggest gripe with the place is how it feels very much like a school field trip in terms of guides and subjects covered. I would have preferred more depth of information than a handful of memorized sound bites between rooms.

I went here a few months ago with my family to see the production "Little Shop of Horrors". It was really cute and very professionally done. The actors were amazing and the event drew a great crowd! I hope to see more at this venue...MoreThank you! Portage Area Community Theatre does such a wonderful job. We are glad to partner with them!

With 7,200 square feet of beautiful hardwood maple skating or dance surface, Bose sound system with customizable music options, exciting entertainment lighting, dining area, arcade, and concession stand, Spinning Wheels is a great venue for both on- and off-skate partying or events! We've been entertaining the community for over 40 years!
It's been a couple years since I've brought the kids here but the new owners have made some great improvements!
It has an overall very positive vibe, clean music, friendly staff and it's cleaner (Although it still has its old mauve and green carpet!).
I think prices are better too? Candy and things didn't seem out of line (in the $1 range, cans of soda $1, whole pizza $8). Admission for 3 hours with regular skate rental was $6 and parents can watch for free. Not bad compared to other attractions and it wears the kids out on these long winter weekends!

We visited because of our admiration for writer Zona Gale, who lived here with her husband William Breese - wonderful to see her studio and desk; she is an almost-forgotten feminist, progressive, and chronicler of small town midwestern life in the early 20th century. Docent Judith Eulberg is so knowlegable and enthusiastic, helping us connect with our own family's connection to old time Portage.
