Wow, where do I start. What a beatiful park! For September it was quite busy. We are thankful we got great weather at this time of year. We were a group of 12. We all got sites close to one another and to the lake. We will definitely be back!

We are located in Tower Hill Park at the base of Parry Sound's 96-foot Look-Out tower overlooking Beautiful Georgian Bay. The Museum features a changing calendar of exhibits in three galleries. Exhibits feature an extensive collection of local artifacts connected to the history of the Parry Sound District. Themes include Natural and Cultural history trapping, First Nations, nautical shipping, Logging, Agriculture and Contagion. Fine arts and special exhibits are offered throughout the year in our two temporary galleries. We offer family rates and special family events throughout the year. We have plenty of picnic tables and one of the best views in town, come spend the day with us.
This little museum was unique. Small charge (5 dollars a head). Although is only has 2 galleries (truthfully I was expecting more), I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The building itself looks old and run down but when entering thee main floor gallery I was impressed at the little exhibits and how well put together they were as well as interactive. I work in a museum myself and love to compare and contrast. When i finished viewing the galleries we took a walk through the Gardens. Very peaceful and beautiful. Finally my boyfriend and I braved the tower (Free) and were so very impressed with the beautiful view! There are 2 observation decks (one midway up, the other at the top). Highly recommend the tower if nothing else.

Our campsite on Blackstone Harbour was very private and offered amazing views of the bay. I just enjoyed sitting and admiring the scenery. There were very few motor boats and other canoeists/campers.
We appreciated the new bear-proof food storage. But its design was somehow flawed—among other things, kids could have their fingers trapped while closing the lid. The locking mechanism appeared to be fragile, but we were very pleased to have the bin at the campsite.
While fishing close to our campsite, for over 30 minutes we were admiring a mother bear with two small cubs wandering on the shore. The next morning we heard some whining on our campsite. We thought it was a bird making those sounds, but it was the small cubs that came over with their mother to check out our site! They wandered around for a while and left. What a wonderful experience!
Several times we saw blue herons, who were wading in the water nearby—it was just delightful to watch them take off, fly gracefully close to the water surface and then majestically land on rocks. One day a really big water snake appeared in the middle of the campsite and ended up under my tent’s vestibule—since the tent’s door was unzipped, it almost slithered inside! We also had a visit by a fox, but it quickly retreated into the forest after not finding any food. And of course, there was a resident chipmunk, whose burrow’s opening was strategically located next to the food storage container. Never mind the bears—it was enough to leave the lid open for several minutes and the chipmunk was already inside, rummaging through our food and stuffing its cheek pouches with it!
Despite numerous hours we spent fishing, we only succeeded in catching several small pikes. We talked to other fishermen and some did not even manage to match our very paltry catch.
The park staff were quite efficient and nice. There was also a self-serve check-in station, but we did not use it.
This is a terrific park, especially in September/October.

When everything goes right, it's hard to make a bad review, even if things could have been better.
This is not the first cruise we've enjoyed on Lake Huron. While it is a full-service offering, there are many drawbacks.
First, the view is fantastic. However, having said that, some of the views can be reached without being on a boat. Most of the views are rocky shorelines and windswept pine outlines on Islands. The cruise takes an appropriate amount of time and is not too long.
On the minus side, our cruise ended long before sunset, so we missed the views of the sun setting over the beautiful panoramas. The food was mostly as advertised, however, I wouldn't say it's gourmet. It looks and tastes like it was catered from somebody's kitchen. All the items were tasty and roughly sufficient, but the image conjured by the menu didn't really materialize on the plate.
A major minus was that we warned the staff when we pre-booked in advance about our allergies. They managed to put the very things we were allergic to into our plates when they assured us they had made special plates for us, therefore we DID have an allergic reaction before the cruise was finished. This could have been a disaster and they clearly don't understand the risks.
Another major minus of this cruise is the smoking. This is not a non-smoking cruise and they don't advertise this. In fact, the smoking area is at the front of the boat!!! So when patrons are smoking, everybody on the boat is treated to the wonderful experience. What were they thinking??
I'm afraid that despite the fact that the crew thought things went well, we felt this ruined our entire evening. My wife forbade me from complaining, for fear of making a scene. If we had any idea it was like this, we would have booked something else more enjoyable.

In my personal opinion, one doesn't need to be a visitor to Parry Sound, Ontario to enjoy this beach which is popular with the locals. Lot's of parking in the area & you need to get here early as it gets busy on sunny warm days. Life quards on duty and they keep a watchful on the crowds. Are not afraid to blow on their whistle when there is health & safe concerns!

The Parry Sound and Area Community Apiary, home to honey bee hives, will be used for Canadore College’s beekeeping-related programming, as an educational resource for primary and secondary schools and by local organizations. Join us for honeybee education, visit to the apiary, and honey tasting.
A very accessible apiary where students of all ages can learn with hands-on experiences how bees impact our ecosystem. I would highly recommend Parry Sound and Area Community Apiary as a place for all to experience the power of the pollinator. It has been so much fun to have the kids here to learn about honeybees, pollinators, visit the apiary, and of course, taste some honey! Bzzz
