Been wanting to visit for a long time. We were able to see the lower falls from the state park and the upper falls from the private viewing area through the tahquamenom river boat tour. The views are outstanding from both areas. This is a must see when in the area.

In the middle of practically nowhere on the Upper Peninsula what a wonderful shop❣ Great place for quilters and knitters alike, couldn't decide what to actually buy as I'm a knitter, and I quilt/sew. I ended buying some of my fav Opal Hundertwasser sock yarn x's 2, a couple of cute notions, and a camping appliqué pillow pattern. Sales help actually knows and cares what's in their shop and so helpful, can't say enough and they didn't even know they were on trip advisor with such good ratings.

I was recently at Tahquamenon Falls on a Tuesday afternoon when passing through the U.P. I was not able to make it to the falls on my last visit to the U.P., so I definitely wanted to get there on this trip. I was not disappointed, and the falls were incredible! The Upper Falls are beautiful and only second to Niagara Falls in terms of water flow east of the Mississippi River. I only had time to see the Upper Falls on this visit, but these clearly seem to be the more popular. They are pretty easily accessible, as the walk is only about 1/4 mile from the parking lot, and you can hear the falls pretty much right away when you begin the trail. There are lots of stairs, however, if you choose to see other vantage points of the falls. I enjoyed spending about 2 hours here, and it was cool to see these falls from a variety of vantage points. It was kind of busy on the day I visited, as the weather was beautiful, but I still enjoyed myself. There was also a nice gift shop to browse on the premises, and there was a small restaurant, but I ate lunch prior to my visit. I enjoyed Tahquamenon Falls, and this is another beautiful landmark in the U.P.!

This lighthouse, the oldest operational light on Lake Superior, is an awesome place to visit for the maritime history as well as to drink in the pristine natural area of forests and Lake Superior shoreline. Lodging is nearby in Paradise.

Museum patrons learn about the perils of maritime transport on the Great Lakes at the Whitefish Point Light Station, an Historic Site on the National Register of Historic Places. See the Whitefish Point Light Tower, in continuous operation for 155 years, the oldest operating lighthouse on Lake Superior. The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society was founded in 1978 by a group of divers, teachers, and educators to commence exploration of historic shipwrecks in eastern Lake Superior, near Whitefish Point in Michigan's scenic Upper Peninsula.

I did not know what to expect from this museum; however, I got more than I thought I would. The entire complex is part of the Shipwreck Museum and for one price you gain entrance to several buildings. You can pay an extra fee to be able to climb the lighthouse tower and look out over Whitefish Bay and Lake Superior. The Shipwreck Museum proper has many interesting artifacts on display from many different shipwrecks along the coast, most notably the Edmund Fitzgerald which is probably the most famous shipwreck. There is a building that was the Coast Guard housing that you can stay in by reservation on line, and the gift shop is well stocked with clothing, books, and other assorted things for you to take home. Whitefish Point is also an excellent place for rock-hounds to pick up those one-of-a-kind treasure.
