Visited March 3rd before 9am to see the roughly 500,000 snow geese migrating north. It was an amazing site enjoyed by our whole family. We also enjoyed walking through the visitor center and checking out the wildlife exhibits as well as the sunken Bertrand exhibits. Glad we went early in the morning as we heard the crowds were very heavy later in the day. Entrance to the park is only $3 per vehicle.

Featuring Lincoln Highway/Loess Hills Interpretive Center with films, road demonstration area with Smartphone interpretation, trail and scenic overlook; five-building historical complex including an original log cabin and one-room school; transportation-themed playground, and more! Check out the Iowa travel information and the Iowa-themed gift shop while enjoying a sample of cherry drink that's been mixed and bottled at the facility since the 1930's.
This was our second stop on our vacation to South Dakota. We walked in, browsed through the brochures and gift shop. I approached the counter and informed the attendant that we wanted to tour the museum and village. Her response was "The buildings aren't air-conditioned, except the last one." It was very hot and humid (Temperature was around 97 degrees) the day (June 18, 2016,) we stopped, but we wanted to tour the buildings anyway.
We watched a short video on the Loess Hills and the Lincoln Highway, which was very informative and enjoyable. I highly recommend to take the time to watch it, even if you don't tour the buildings. Makes one appreciate the highway system we have now, even with all the road construction that goes on throughout the Spring to Fall months.
The buildings themselves are very interesting and contain a lot of artifacts and things to look at. The grounds are very pretty and have a lot of things to do. There is a hiking trail (We did not do) an area for kids to burn off some energy in a replica area of the Lincoln Highway. A map of the Lincoln Highway in stone and other neat things to take in.
If you are from Iowa or just traveling through, I recommend you make this a stop. We were glad we did.

I visited the museum on the recommendation of a friend of mine. It was wonderful. The museum was displaying various versions of the nativities from around the world. While this is a temporary exhibit, there seemed to have literally hundreds of interpretations of the Nativity.
There is a section where the various scenes of the life of Christ are displayed. And the figures are life sized which makes it more real. One can't help be moved by the display. There is also a section of drawings from the Holocaust made by someone interred in the camps. This is a sobering but moving exhibit. To say the least this museum is not to be missed.
There are also displays outside such as a pond with a Jesus and Peter entitled Jesus walking on the water and also a display of the three crosses on a hill. The only distraction was there were 3 dogs from a neighboring farm that came on the property and were growling and appeared threatening. While they did not come near me, they followed me back to the main building growling the entire way. Beyond that it was a perfect visit.
I HIGHLY recommend this stop to anyone and everyone.

We have 2 acres of lavender. 2000 plants with over 10 varietals. We have a 650 square foot gift shop where you can browse the artwork of over 40 local artisans or purchase our famous lavender bath and skin care products. We are constantly adding features to beautify the property. We invite you to join us during our major bloom from June 22 - July 15. Take some photos of our butterfly visitors during our August photo contest. Or join us for our American version of high tea.
Visiting the Loess Hills Lavender Farm is always a treat. Great hospitality and neat items in the gift shop, including lavender products and items made by local artists. I highly recommend stopping by to check it out. I have been there several times and always look forward to returning for another visit!

This attraction is well signed, although misleading. Everything clearly states a Steamtrain, BUT the Steam Loco only runs on special occasions. On most weekends the ride is hauled by a model Diesel Loco. Yes, this is a miniature, ride on railway. The volunteers are very friendly and there is a small museum but they have the most amazing collection of HO Model Locos, one of the biggest I've seen.
When I found that the ride would be diesel, I declined. I'd gone for the "advertised" Steam.
Ce La Vie.

Beautiful state park with wonderful free hot showers and big tent campsites. Good view of the Missouri River. Too bad there's a gravel pit with big trucks and construction equipment on the Nebraska side of the river. We were awakened at 4:30 am by the gravel pit work. But otherwise it's great!

This museum can be a short visit if you are on the road and in a hurry, but can also be a full visit of about 1 hour.
This would be great for the Scouts or a school field trip. Also for summer time groups or vacation travel.
This farm museum is worth a trip to see it, but also if you happen to stop off I29 at the Missouri Valley exit, pull in, park the car and take a trip down memory lane. There is more than meets the first glance, but you'll see a number of buildings with exhibits of old kitchens, dining rooms, doctor's office, and so on. There is a beautiful church made out of cedar and plenty of old tractors. This place is a must-see for the Harrison County area. You'll be glad you stopped. The folks are nice and you can spend as much or as little time as you have. Get the kids out of the car and off their electronics.
There is handicapped parking in the driveway next to the house. There are modern bathrooms. The farm is clean and well-cared for. Admission is free with no pressure to make a donation, but that would be a nice thing for you to do.
