There is a wealth of material in the Greens Gunyah Museum, with an extensive range of historical artefacts, photography and machinery displayed, all with their own story to tell. Of note are the artefacts from Brookong Station, scene of the famous Shearer's Strike in 1888 which led to land reform, the Labor Party and much more. The Museum is also home to the to the well known Doris Golder Gallery, a fabulous collection of "Wool Art" by local artist Doris Golder.
$5 entry for a very well put together museum. They have all sorts of interesting things on display and some oral history listening points. We spent well over an hour and a half and had to leave but could have spent much longer. Includes the Doris Golder display

Walk the 'Farm Art Trail', a unique, inspiring and clever collection of sculptures celebrating the resilience of those who live and work on the land. Many of the sculptures are winners of the National Farm Art Sculpture Awards, held in junction with Lockhart's Spirit of the Land Festival. The popular Spirit of the Land Festival held the 2nd weekend of October is the catalyst that inspired the wonderful sculptures displayed throughout Lockhart.
What a brilliant idea. Sculptures placed around the town. A trail to follow and explore. Love the idea, the explanation of each sculpture. Topped of with the water tower in town painted. Best day exploring

Doris Golder is a renowned local artist whose rual paintbox consists of one of Lockhart Shire's most historical and important resources - wool. Washed, combed and undyed, Doris has been using naturally coloured wool to create an amazing array of landscapes and portraits since the early 1980s. From Slim Dusty and Greg Norman to Bob Hawke, Tim Fischer and many more famous faces, Doris has captured their very essence by using this unique and highly skilled medium.
Amazing collection of wool artwork with interesting introduction and video of an interview with the artist.

Galore Hill is a place that holds deep beautiful memories of picnics with extended family and friends many years ago. Yesterday we trekked around Galore Hill following the old white arrows which led us to the most amazing lookout. The track was covered in debris and new trees, but that makes it a more exciting walk. It wasn’t a hard hike, but a beautiful way to spend a Sunday afternoon together. The caves are still amazing and the rock formations are glorious. A very special place in our beautiful part of Australia.

The water tower art is reason enough to visit but add this to your itinerary as well. Quirky Australiania on the outskirts of town.

We are doing a bit of the silo trail from Canberra through western Victoria. This was on the way so we included it in our itinerary. This one is right in the middle of town which makes it a bit easier to find than some of the others. You need to view it from different angles so make sure that you park and walk around it. Very spectacular.
