Spent a leisurely 1-2 hours walking the trail that leads to these stunning sculptures of Eyre and his Indigenous companion. If possible i recommend waking early and heading up at 10am, or skip the walk altogether and drive to see the sculptures instead!

Visited on Tuesday 10th March. You have to stop here for a photo like we did. It's the half way point across Australia.

Just outside Kimba on Bickleboo Road, is access via a dirt road to Whites Knob Lookout which overlooks the township of Kimba and surrounding areas. At the top of the lookout is a sculptural tribute to explorer Edward John Eyre and his Aboriginal tracker, Wylie, who explored the area. The sculptures are impressive in steel which has rusted to merge in with the colours of the lands. The harshness of the angular steel reflects on the hardship that these explorers wold have experienced in undertaking the mammoth task. Facilities at the lookout are very basic with a just seating under a covered roof to be able to sit and take in the panoramic view. The sculptures were erected in 2011. Return? Maybe to see the view in a different season if passing through the area.

Stopped off for a coffee on way to the border of SA/WA. Friendly staff, good coffee get a couple of photos as it was halfway across Australia. Ordered the coffee and asked for what is one of the best tasting Vanilla slice I have eaten a very long time, very yummy indeed! Recommend the purchase with coffee. Terrific shop with an array of goods for purchase as well as a vanilla slice.
Hi, I'm Brendan and I have lived in the Kimba area all my life and at 74 years young, there is not much about the area that I don't know. I have built a farm from standing scrub to full production and have been a company director building and operating grain storage in SA, as well as a 6-year Director with the Australian Wheat Board. I look forward to passing on my knowledge of Kimba township and district.
