We visited in mid April. Many trees were flowering. It was too early for regular flowers. Nice concrete path around the pond. Some non-paved paths leading to other areas. A nice little walk. Donation suggested

This museum deals with prairie flora and fauna, pioneer settlement and, in particular, the history of Mennonite settlement in this area of Kansas in the 1870's. For persons of Mennonite heritage there is a particularly interesting presentation on the book "Mirror of the Martyrs" printed in the 17th century.
Kauffman was an avid amateur naturalist, collector and taxidermist. This museum has created a presentation of his stuffed birds in a style reminiscent of the early 20th century.

James and Heather,
Doug and I are writing this as a huge thank you for your hospitality to these crazy touring cyclist. We are so grateful for everything especially with the Trans-Am race going on you did not have to take us in.
The care and time taken to ensure our comfort was beyond expectation.
Tell Owen he is quite an Ambassador for the shop.
Folks if you are on a bike and need a rest beat feet over to the Newton Bike Shop in Newt on Kansas.

One of the nicest municipal parks that I have visited. Vintage and Modern playground equipment at several locations in the park. They also have a Spray Park, available in the summer, for the children and their furry friends. The adults can mist off there too if it's to their liking. There is a Sand Volley Ball Court, Horseshoe Pits, and plenty of Grills for having a family cook-out. There is a store nearby that has everything you'd need to cook out.

This piece of art is an interesting way of combining the art itself and the sky behind it. There's a bench just off the small parking lot where you can sit and watch as the sky moves. It is especially interesting on windy days. There's also a trail that winds through grassland that provides a bit of opportunity for exercise and enjoying the art and being outdoors. The same cloud theme on the artwork is also carried through on the city's directional signs and even a water tower. It can be a little bit hard to find if you don't know where to look. Generally, go right at 12th and Main Streets at a Dillon's Super Market and then turn left onto Kansas Avenue.

Hesston Dog Park is a great place to jump off of I-135 and let the dog frolic for a bit. It's just a little out of town, fenced and a great place to stop for a bit with your furry friend. Often you'll run into locals letting the dog run for a bit. I recommend this park for a safe place to let your puppy stretch it's legs during travel.

Hesston golf park is a 160 acre Municipal Golf Course with 18 holes and full service. I'd recommend calling ahead for green fees. Cost varies, depending on the day of the week. Highly rated, in the top 200 Municipal Courses in the US. Spacious Club House and walking trails that are open to the public. A very pretty course.
