Housed in what was intended to be England's first agricultural college, this fine historic building is Pickering's hidden gem. We have 27 areas of displays, covering aspects of local and social history. Thousands of objects are thoughtfully displayed in re-created period shops throughout the building. On our special event days we have a number of working craftspeople, demonstrating printing, rag-rugging, lacemaking, quilling, spinning and butter making. Get hands on in the Activities Room with a range of Victorian games and creative activities for children from dressing up to drawing. On a sunny day enjoy a picnic at our riverside picnic area. We are open 7 days a week from February to November. See website for times and prices.
My husband and I went in here when the pickering Christmas lights were due to go on, very informative building, old farming tools, dairy implements snd also at this time there were plenty of stalls in the building selling different bits and peices so well worth a visit.

Dalby Forest Cycle Hub has been established in order to offer a great cycling experience to everyone regardless of their experience or ability. As well as MTB's we offer a full range of adapted bikes so everyone can enjoy the trails in the forest. Dalby Forest is the perfect place for a pedal, whether you are looking for a leisurely ride or something more challenging
First time back at Dalby after living up in Scotland and I wasn't disappointed! The guys at Dalby Cycle Hub sorted me out with a bike (after some good chat about how Orange are the best!) and were super helpful with offers to take a look at my bike which I knew needed some work. Friendly staff made me feel like a local and had a blast on the trails. Can't wait to be back :)

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is one of the world’s greatest heritage railway experiences with thrills and education at its heart. Climb on-board a steam or heritage diesel train on one of the earliest and most historic lines. Experience 24 miles of Yorkshire’s amazing scenery at this must-see visitor attraction. We will take you on a journey you can’t even imagine! Explore the Railway • Pickering Station is a must-see 1930’s themed station that will transport you back in time to the locomotive steam era. • A must-see is the celebrity station, Goathland, which became Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film. • Explore Grosmont Station which is home to the operating and engineering world of the NYMR. If you are lucky you might be able to catch a sneaky peak at the work taking place on our engines! • Visit Whitby with its narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking ruins of Whitby Abbey. • Explore Levisham Station which is surrounded by the North York Moors.

I went with my partner who was wanting to try mountain miking on trails and downhill etc. We have done a fair bit of mountain biking, but generally more canal path and cycle track on disused railway lines etc We looked at the map and decided on the blue route. The long uphill at the start was hard work. But we only really got our bikes back out 3 weeks ago, so are still a long way from being fit. Then there was a really enjoyable mixed middle bit. Single track in the main, varied and fun. I found the end section too steep and technical and had to walk that part, which left me feeling disappointed. But if you have more confidence, then I’m sure it would be fine. My other half enjoyed it. There seems to be something for everyone. A lovely venue and we will go again, but I think we will try the long green route next time ????

The farm shop is small but has a good range of products, we’d eaten in the cafe on Wednesday 4th Nov & visited the shop afterwards, lots of locally grown fruit & vegetables, locally sourced milk, eggs & honey as well as freshly baked bread. As Christmas is approaching they had a number of hampers that were reasonably priced too. There was a small choice of ready prepared meals both fresh & frozen as well as gluten free options. We returned on Thursday to purchase a number of items, the fresh chicken Kiev was lovely the sausage roll was huge & delicious. We bought some of the fresh produce priced at £10 for 3 & when we opened the cool bag once home, the smell was amazing & made us wish we’d bought more. On the Thursday a number of the cakes & pastries were being individually sealed & available for sale in the shop which was a great idea, there were a number of loaf type cakes such as carrot also available. The only suggestion I’d make is to offer take away coffees for those visiting, we’d walked from Thornton & it would’ve been lovely to have had a hot drink (appreciate cafe was closed due to second lockdown but would’ve been a great option, as the cafe is the village was doing so). You can only enter the shop with a trolley & they are limited to 4 at a time so no worries about the measures, felt very safe!

Set in the attractive Moors-edge market town of Pickering; discover how this splendid 13th century castle was used throughout the centuries. This tourist attraction in the heart of the North York Moors National Park has been a royal hunting lodge, holiday home and a stud farm by a succession of medieval kings. Today, it gives spectacular views from the top of the keep, and features wildflower meadows and unique wildlife to discover alongside the castle's centuries-old story. Please note: Pickering Castle is now closed for the winter. See you again April 2020!
Lovely day for my sister to use her new english heritage membership, and it was great place for a walk around, great views of surrounding area, small car park that we were lucky and got a space. The lady at the desk was really lovely and to cap it all we could taste a lot of the bottles of alcohol that they sell, which was very nice. Overall a nice place to visit.
