In an escape-room, a puzzle-solving team made up of 2-8 people enters a room based on a theme and has 60 minutes to solve the clues that will “unlock the door.” Within each room are puzzles, clues, and codes that must be deciphered. Wake Escape rooms are great fun for the entire family, blending the best of modern role-playing games with the classic mystery game.
We checked out Wake Escape tonight on a whim and SO glad we did. The game we played was definitely well thought out and the puzzles matched the theme of the room instead of being random. It was a great ending to our evening and we will definitely be back to try the other room(s)!

Beaverdam Lake is one of several access areas of Falls Lake State Recreation Area. It's right off Creedmoor Road, north of the visitor center. This area is day use only, no camping, but it is open year round. There are picnic areas, a swim beach, short hiking trails and a boat ramp. Gas motors are prohibited in Beaverdam Lake, so it's a great place for kayaking or paddleboarding. Beaverdam also has about 12 miles of mountain biking trails. There is a fee to enter, daily in the summer and on weekends in the shoulder season. No fee to enter in the winter.

Stopped by on a super hot day and was treated to excellent beer and service. First, for free, they let me try their coffee stout -- delicious! Then we were able to get great food truck food (such a good bratwurst and my daughter had mac and cheese) and sit at White Street, where I had a delicious pilsner for less than $5! They were super cool about letting my underage daughter hang out and provided pint glasses of ice water! What a great place.
