Went on a cloudy day with light drizzle. Spent about an hour walking around the area. There is a chair lift and monorail to bring passengers up the mountain to see the view. You need to bend between your leg for an unique view.. a small amusement park at the top of the mountain. Would like to have spent more time rent a bicycle to ride along the pine trees...

Boasts of one of top 3 most beautiful spots in Japan. I wouldn’t doubt it. Very blessed with excellent weather, clear skies so it looked superb, just like how it should. The highlight must-do here, is the Matanozoki, which is to stand on one of those stone steps, open your legs apart, bend over and look in between your legs. The sand pitch with the lush greenery is supposed to appear like a dragon ascending to the sky. Quite honestly, I did it a few times but didn’t quite see the flying dragon still, haha. But it’s a scenic view nonetheless. Took the chairlift up as the monorail operates only every 20 mins (and takes only 40pax each time) while the chairlift is constantly running so you don’t waste time waiting. The duration up is about the same 6-7 mins. The chairlift however, doesn’t have any belt so you really have to sit still or risk falling off and jamming up the entire system. It’s not as scary as it sounds or looks. But still, I’m surprised by how unsafe it is by Jap standards. Also this wouldn’t be ideal for families with young kids. Then I was lucky to catch the monorail just about to leave for the ground. It departs every 10th, 30th and 50th min of the hour. So I got to try both means of transport! In fact the journey down was so empty I had the entire first cabin to myself. Am glad we were one of the earlier groups to arrive so the entire place was fairly empty and made for good pictures. We were given an hr here which is more than enough for adults but I would imagine if I had my nephews with me, they wouldn’t leave till they finished all the amusement park rides.
