We thoroughly enjoyed our stop at Volcan Mountain Winery. Mel was a wonderful hostess. I tasted their Apple Sparkling (Champagne), Sangiovese, Petite Syrah, Old Vine Zinfandel, Malbec and Cabernet Franc (my fav) Their “Drop your Panties” blend of the Apple Sparkling (2/3) and their Apple Port (1/3) was quite a hit. So much so that we just had to bring a few bottles home to share with friends. We will definitely return!

Scenic mountain range east of San Diego.
The day was cold & clear so could see for miles. Hike was 'energetic' but do-able. Took my time and enjoyed the sunny day.

The Eagle and High Peak Mine tour has the same charm and authenticity that you'll come to expect from the town of Julian, CA. It's family owned and a labor or love. Our tour guide, Matt, had almost infinite knowledge about the mine's inner workings, and he was very charismatic and funny which this made the tour memorable for myself and my fiancé. (And they fit us in for an end of day tour, which was really nice.) There's a trough for learning how to pan for gold, to understand the process and experience the feeling of washing away dust and dirt to reveal something magical. And that might be the same feeling you'll get if you turn down the dusty path to get to the Eagle and High Peak Mine.

Thank you Nikko for an awesome wine tasting experience. Our visit was educational and fun. We enjoyed our tastes relaxing on the beautifully located patio overlooking the vineyard and hills. Very good wine at a reasonable cost. Highly recommend this stop.

Small production winery offering a nice array of wines in a wonderful and charming tasting room. Pop in for a taste, glass, or bottle during your visit to Julian. Cheers!
Our second visit to the Blue Door Winery tasting room and yet again it did not disappoint… it’s up a side street in the little town of Julian and pours about six different reds along with their fresh made Sangria by the glass. We enjoyed each pour and managed to take several bottles home with us. Charming owner, Kameron, takes a lot of pride in her wines and shared her knowledge with us. A very informative and gracious host, what an enjoyable afternoon! We definitely will visit again!

No wonder why this areas stated to be the Historic town with a Heart of Gold! Just look at the mines from Eagle and High Peak mines. From the old 1870 Hard rock Gold Mine you can see the Mother lode of Southern California Julian is a truly beautiful place. With 1000 ft underground hard rock tunnel... ( this should get those Head bangers going- Hard Rock... lol). Authentic tools and machinery of the period plus antique engines on display. Not to mention all the rock and minerals on display. Great trucks and cars of earlier years.... over 25 years is now an antique so 1995 is now an antique? Lol. Gold Bering quartz veins with gold extraction process and more. Come look around with your cameras and have a fun time. Bus parking available. Museum and rock shop. Plus group rates. Enjoy.
