Darling Cellars

The cool and temperate West Coast climate lends itself to a variety of different micro- and meso-climates which, along with the different soil types, lead to unique grapes which we guide into even more unique wines. With approximately 95% of all our vineyards being Unirrigated (dry land) and roughly the same percentage being bush vines (i.e. not trellised), this is as close as one can get to what nature intended for grapes to be. These varying factors result in wines that are true to the terroir from which they come and are true to the identity which we have crafted over time for our wines. Investment continues in the winery and cellar with some of the most modern and up to date winemaking equipment in our industry today. A modern bottling line, new presses, a barrel maturation cellar, a new grape off-loading system and continuing replanting of vineyards, to include noble cultivars, all contribute to our advances in contemporary winemaking.

Nicely set up smaller tasting room with a number of nice wines to taste. We bought 2 bottles of wine and an exceptionally good value 3 litre box of pinotage which we received 15% off as it was a Wednesday and we are pensioners!

Darling Olives

At Darling Olives, we not only produce great-tasting olives, but also offer a great tasting experience. For half an hour we will keep you entertained so you can discover our range of delicious products in our tasting room. You can look forward to learning more about how to buy a good olive oil, tasting different styles of olives, jams, oils and even olive chocolate all while enjoying a taste of our two exclusive wines (when in stock.) It is a lovely experience and an absolute taste-adventure (even for non-olive eaters).

Groote Post Winery

Groote Post is a historic 18th century farm on the Cape's West Coast where winemaking traditions have been revived by the Pentz family. Unique aspects and cool climatic conditions of the Darling Hills yield superlative fruit. Our wines are produced to reflect the uniqueness of our vineyards.

The tasting room is inside this gorgeous, historic Cape Colony building where you have to walk through the shining wine tanks to arrive at a smiling young woman who will guide you through the range... the whole range if you dare. I absolutely loved standing and chatting to our wine hostess. It was a wonderful experience for my Italian family member to enjoy and taste the beautiful wines Groote Post is producing. I will definitely be returning! but next time I'll bring the 4x4 rather than my run-around.

Ormonde Vineyard

Ormonde Private Cellar is situated on the West Coast of South Africa, where the rugged Darling hills roll and fall along the contours of an ancient granite intrusion. These molten rocks, forced from the earth to 300m above sea level, guard the Atlantic Ocean while banks of fog bless the vineyard with coolness and moisture. Proprietor Theo Basson embraces the legacy left to him by his father Nico Basson and his grandfathers before him. The appreciation for accumulated knowledge and attention to detail are principles Theo vows to when asked about the various accolades Ormonde has been awarded. Ormonde is proud to house in it's stable two Old Mutual trophies, as well as various Platinum, Gold and Double Gold medals over the years to mention but just a few. Wines tasted at the tasting room are exclusively available from the estate and selected restaurants. The serene atmosphere and personal experience at Ormonde promise our guests a memorable experience.

We visited Ormonde for lunch platters after our flower tour and it was a highlight. Excellent service. Scrumptious platters!

Our visit to Tannie Evita was unplanned but what a great experience. The staff are so welcoming and accommodating- we arrived at 4pm and they close at 4.30pm ???? Inspite of the tight timing they were so hospitable and engaging. We had the most delicious carrot cake, peppermint tart and of course those world famous koeksisters. COVID regulations are in place and well exercised.

Darling Brew

Africa's first Carbon Neutral Brewery, Darling Brew. Darling based microbrewery with a Tasteroom boasting an amazing draught beer range and food menu to match.

Reviewed By staceyleer - Cape Town Central, South Africa

We took a trip out to see the flower show on the West Coast and stopped by Darling Brew for lunch. The restaurant is split into 2 sections and has an outdoor area where you can bring your own picnic blanket and enjoy the lawns too. The food offering had an assortment of some light snacks, burgers and some bigger dishes for those with a roaring appetite. The thing I loved most about the brewery was the staff behind the bar. They were very knowledgeable and had a sense of pride and listened to what type of beer you liked so they could recommend the perfect drink. I do recommend booking in advance when visiting on the weekend as it gets really busy with families and travellers passing by.
