On a recent trip to Tuscany I wanted to take a pasta making class. I had researched classes in the Tavarenelle area and Vilma got all the stars through Trip Advisor. Four of us went and were so surprised. It was a one on one class for about two hours. Vilma was a joy! We watched her make the dough kneading it to the right consistency then we rolled it out and made five types of pasta: ravioli, tortellini, tortelloni, bowties and one other, all of which you could cook and eat there or take out uncooked. We opted for the takeout because we had four mouths to feed for lunch (it was over turn). Vilma is a wonderful teacher and a very personable person. Do go and enjoy, it is well worth it! I would definitely do this the next time in Tuscany, I feel I made a new Italian friend!

The grape growing and wine making traditions of the Davaz family go back several decades. The Davaz have been cellaring wine in their estate between Fläsch and Maienfeld in the Bündner Herrschaft of Switzerland (Domain of the Grisons Lords ) since the early seventies. Sons Johannes and Andrea were originally winegrowers and cellar men who subsequently pursued a formal training as oenologists. The family then acquired «Poggio al Sole» in 1990 where the elder son, Johannes, now lives with his family.

The Bucalossi family bought the estate from the Florentine noblewoman Emma Bizzarri. They have maintained the name “Casa Emma” respecting the historical roots of this land. The inherent philosophy of the company is to integrate the work of men with the surrounding environment so they merge into a single block of spectacular beauty. The estate of Casa Emma with its beautiful botanical park of Chianti with the blossoming roses of Chianti, with its beautiful vineyards, arranged like an amphitheater around the central core, reveals an ancient philosophy of life, where one can truly enjoy everything that surrounds them only by merging into it and thereby contribuiting to its improvements. Located at the heart of Chianti Classico, at an altitude of 420m. above sea level, the vineyards of Casa Emma are surely among the greatest expressions that a land like Chianti Classico can offer.
If you know anything about wine tasting, the education and experience of tasting a variety of wines can best be enjoyed when you have knowledgeable staff, hands-on tours and fabulous views while enjoying the tastes of some excellent wine. We enjoyed our tour, tasting and experience of purchasing some wines, oils and vinegar and have it all shipped back to us in the States. It is definitely worth the time to set up a visit and enjoy some great Tuscany hospitality!

On our last day in Tuscany we've had a wine tasting at Poggio al Bosco. Due to Covid-restrictions it was different than normal, but it was stil great. We all tasted 2 wines (each one could choose their own wine) which were really tasty. Of course we ended up buying wine, but you definately do not feel obliged to do so. Its a nice small family winery where you feel welcome and where they have great wine.

azienda conduzione familiare produzione di vino chianti docg, chianti classico Docg ed olio extra vergine di oliva. é possibile fermarsi per un light lunch accompagnato dai vini di nostra produzione
We spent 6 nights in Tuscany and this was my most memorable experiences. A 250 year old winery, run by 3 generations who go out of their way to serve up an amazing meal of pasta, cured meats, bruschetta, dessert, coffee, water, Fanta for the non-wine drinkers, and of course...the wine! And lots of it. They literary put 6 bottles on the table for my wife and I to enjoy as much or as little as we wanted. Then we got a tour of the bottling and storage facilities with again, more wine tasting. Vittoria was a wonderful host, as was the rest of the family. The price was also much less than any restaurant around. The Chianti Riserva was also very well priced. Loved everything about it. Luckily we took the bus there from Tavernalle val di Pesa to properly enjoy the experience. Grazie mille Vittoria!!!
