Taketomi Island Yugafu Museum

The Taketomi Yugafu-Kan visitor center opened in 2004 as a facility to inform visitors about the island's local nature and traditional arts and culture. Located near to the East Port of Taketomi Island, it provides the latest seasonal tourist information. The Taketomi Island Educational Nature Trail, which starts from the visitor center, has information boards along the way that explain about the island's sacred groves and holy places, allowing walkers to deepen their understanding of the island's culture and nature en route. The visitor center's name "Yugafu", which literally means "the divine blessing of a bumper harvest" (or more simply "great fortune") was given in the hope that local inhabitants and visitors could exchange fruitful communication with each other.
