At the farmhouse "Le Pietre Vive di Montaperti" you can enjoy traditional Tuscan cooking classes. Nonna Ciana & Team will teach you how to prepare typical Italian dishes, such as fresh homemade pasta (tagliatelle, tagliolini, pappardelle etc), gnocchi (potato dumplings), main courses, things like chicken with Vin Santo or with our homegrown saffron or maybe one of our delicious vegetarian second courses with eggplant, peppers or zucchini. This is followed by a typica Tuscan dessert. At the end of the class you will eat these delicious dishes, accompanied by our own Chianti Colli Senesi wine, all together, with the team and the other participants in the class in the best Italian tradition.
Nonna Ciana is a master in the kitchen and she shares many of her cooking tips with you in a warm, welcoming Tuscan home, beautiful and bountiful with the fruits of the countryside. Our group of 15 was transfixed as Nonna began our lesson with a gorgeous, yet doable tiramisu. Next, we jumped in as we began to make the pasta, with help at every step. I consider myself to be a good cook, having primary responsibility for the family meals for more than 20 years, but I learned the right way to make bruschetta, the right way to handle garlic, and a better way to cook chicken to keep it more moist. After spending a good amount of time making this beautiful meal, we all sat down to enjoy it together! I would definitely go again with friends if I get back to this part of Italy. I could not recommend this any higher. You must go!

Pier Luigi Tolaini was born in Castelnuovo Garfagnana (LUCCA) in 1936 and in 1956 he immigrated to Canada with a one way ticket and two big dreams in his suitcase: to make money in America and then return to his homeland and make a great wine. After 40 years in Canada he returned to Tuscany to realize his main dream: he began a search for the ideal piece of property and in 1998 he found it in Castelnuovo Berardenga, a zone noted for its unique terroir, in the southernmost part of Chianti Classico. Nowadays Tolaini is an international awarded winery with ratings from top journalists (RP/WS/JS, 94-96 pts), a perfect natural amphitheater which covers 50 hectares of vineyards. Here grapes are grown by practicing organic sustainable agriculture that respects the environment and the biodiversity of land.
We were fortunate enough to have a visit to Tolaini winery arranged for us. This is a fantastic place. The vineyards themselves are beautiful. There is an Etruscan grave high on a hill surrounded by trees that you can visit here. Our hostess, Federica Pallari was extremely knowledgeable. She told us the history of the owner and the property and discussed, quite frankly, the difficulties they have experience in various vintages with the weather. She showed us their sorting equipment, impressive, their fermentation room, and their bottling room. She discussed the various soils on the property and why each was selected for each variety. She was very willing to answer any odd question that we had. (I have lots of odd questions.) We then proceeded to taste all of their available wines, which were again, fantastic. May of these had Bordeaux varietals in addition to their Sangiovese and other Tuscan components. M. Rolland was or is a consulting winemaker here and it shows. These are not rustic old world wines but modern, clean, beautiful wines. Very, very highly recommended!

This is an amazing vineyard that focuses on Pinot Nero. We had a tasting of 6 wines and ended up staying for a few more glasses. Our server was incredibly helpful and made our stay even better. I highly recommend both the place and the wine. They also make amazing olive oil

A highly reputable wine estate located in the Chianti Classico region of Castelnuovo Berardenga, features its notable wines of Chianti Classico Riserva Vigneto Rancia and a Sangiovese, a hearty Tuscan.
We have been to this winery twice now. They are hospitable, the wines are excellent, the olive oil possibly even better than the wine. The location is almost a cliche it’s so attractive, classically so. There is a small fee to do a tasting. We are from the US and actually had to ask whether they shipped. I guess the lesson is don’t be shy.

The Chianti Sculture Park is a permanent exhibition of contemporary installations and sculptures. Artists from all over the world have created 26 artworks, like a labyrinth, a rainbow, a huge keel, all perfectly integrated in the surrounding wooded area. Along a walking trail of 1 km the visitor is able to enjoy the typical Tuscan landscape and the sculptures at the same time.
