As the ancient capital of the Burgundy province, Dijon is an architecturally rich city offering far more than mustard. In its restored medieval core, you'll discover one of France's oldest museums, the MusÂe des Beaux-Arts, as well as the elegant Palace of the Dukes and the opulent 1614 mansion HÂtel de Vogue. Take a quiet walk through the lime- and chestnut-lined paths of Cours du Parc, a green space dating to 1671, and don't forget to pair the region's rich history with its gastronomic delights.

Founded in 1796, Mulot & Petitjean craft traditional gingerbread from more than 220 years. Production begins in the same way that it used to, with the creation of a base dough from wheat flour, honey and sweeteners. Dijon's genuine gingerbread, made from wheat flour, remains an authentic product which awakes the gourmand memory of our childhood. Mulot & Petitjean is certified an «Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant». This a sign of recognition from the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, implemented to distinguish French companies for their excellent traditional and industrial savoir-faire. It rewards unfailing attachment to a product, to traditional recipes, to unique savoir-faire, to the kindly preservation of its remarkable heritage, and to the enhancement of its historical sites and remarkable architecture. Mulot and Petitjean, whose factory is located in Dijon, operates 4 own stores in the region and has a distribution network throughout France.
A beautiful store to buy the most delicious ginger bread that melts in your mouth. It keeps well and we had a sample.

The entrance is free and it doesn't take too long to see everything. The copies of Francois Rude's sculptures enable one to see how detailed his work is. The copy of La Marseillaise is great as although I've been to the Arc de Triomphe, there you can't really see the expressions on the faces of the characters or the detail of the work. Ruins of the church can also be seen.

Discover the history of dijon’s “pain d’épices” (gingerbread) and maison Mulot & Petitjean through a playful and realistic circuit. Follow the production stages of the gingerbread through the exhibition of the collection of machines and tools in the company. On giant screens, the staff explains the current stages of production of the pain d’epices to the visitors.
I love that there are thoughts behind every detail in this museum and that it is technically modern. People working here are friendly. Here you use all your sences: there is a lot to look at, audio guides with lively voices to listen to, spices to smell, a station activated by touching a machine and, at the end, extraordinary good cake to taste.
