Sure, there are sacks and sacks of organic flours and other ingredients at this welcoming spot just off the Trans-Canada Highway south of Chilliwack. But, goodness gracious, do not miss the fresh-baked loaves of organic bread right by the entrance doors. There were a half dozen different offerings and we selected the sour dough, a gorgeous loaf that was quickly sliced by a helpful employee. We raved about the bread when it become lunch in the car with cheese on our way later. We raved about it days later when we returned to Seattle and had it as morning toast. If only we'd bought a second loaf, or maybe a second and third! Learn from our mistake....

Our farm market is special in that the majority of food available is grown right here on our 37 acre farm. This means that our customers are locavores choosing to eat organically grown, in-season foods when they're at their peak nutritionally and taste the best. We grow every imaginable vegetable and fruit that can be grown in our region--greens, radishes, beets, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, artichoke, rhubarb, currants, raspberries, blueberries...and the list goes on and on. The availability of foods at our market varies throughout the season. We don't ever import produce so this means that we won't have tomatoes through the winter and sometimes due to unpredictable weather or pest damage some foods are in limited supply even when they'd normally be available. It's more important for us to remain true to our mission to solely provide local food than to compromise by importing food from other countries and continents. And, to our great happiness, an ever growing number of people in our area also wish to support a budding local food system. Our customers want to support their neighboring farms and provide lasting benefits to our society, economy and environment. Our farm is also open to the public during market hours. We believe in full transparency. Come and walk around our farm and see where your food comes from and how it's grown. There are no secrets here. Our vision is a food-secure community where every citizen has access to local food year-round. My family and fellow-farmers will work tirelessly to make this dream a reality! --Dan and Helen and everyone at The Local Harvest Market

Tamil Creek and Recreation Campground, Vedder River, Chilliwack, BC Canada, is one of our must do, annual visit and camping during the salmon migration season. It is a rustic campground that has no luxurious facilities and have only basic personal use facilities - no cold nor hot water facilities and only chemical toilets. Most campers bring along their Trailers and have their own generators. We are the very few that pitch a tent and this is our 7th year at the campground. Many campers bring their powered scramblers and enjoy the trail ride up to the mountain and see the beautiful Chillwack mountain range and valley. To us ,our purpose is to meet our fishing friends and enjoy great fun fishing and chat at the nightly campfire. This was a very good year for us as we caught some very nice and good size Coho. My more experienced fishermen friends caught some very nice Spring Salmons. The biggest was over 26 lbs. The weather was very pleasant except for a few days of welcome rain, which caused the river level to rise and brought the migrating salons up river. We are now looking forward to returning to the camp ground in the coming year!
