Pros -valet is very accommodating and quick -front desk is professional -hotel housekeeping is reliable and efficient -Spa and their staff are incredible - the massages and facials were excellent -every restaurant is spot on with great food and great service -close to delicious off site restaurants on Seawall BLVD Cons -pool staff is lax, the adult-only spaces are filled with kids and the pool staff walked thru the pavilions and said nothing and made the adults miserable with the kids running around -pool bar had one person behind the bar to serve customers, which slowed down service -great hotel, suite interior could use a facelift -bathrooms are small, no soaker tubs, -Note: you have to request your room be cleaned at no extra cost and they will clean it at the time you request -Do not rent a cabana, the large ones are $700 and the small ones are $600 with no amenities, no ice water, no fruit baskets, no cold towels, nothing other than a room with an ice box

Hotel Galvez & Spa has pleased guests worldwide for more than 100 years. Our AAA 4-Diamond property is the only historic beachfront hotel on the Texas Gulf Coast and renowned as one of the finest Galveston hotels on the beach.
This hotel is beautiful with interesting history. We really enjoyed our stay. However, the only door guests are allowed to use is a revolving door, and they kept telling us to go through one at a time so it didn't slow down. However, when my four year old went in by herself, she didn't want to exit. So, there were issues, and we are NOT the kind who let our kids run wild. One of the staff was quite upset: "WHOSE CHILD IS THIS?!" Seriously, let us use the regular door just beside it, and they wouldn't have a problem. Or don't get grumpy about us holding our daughter's hand and slowing it down, and not going one at a time. The rooms were nice, but SMALL. probably the smallest rooms I've ever had. And the shower is short. My 6 foot husband had trouble. It was fine for me, at 5'6". The ice machine worked great, but the cold water despenser on the ice machine wasn't working most of the time. There is a cross walk right outside the hotel, which is nice because the street is pretty busy. The Beach in front of the hotel was not as busy as other sections. From our photos you'd think we were the only ones there. The pool is nice. If you want adjoining rooms, call ahead, don't just put it in the comments and expect them to read it.

DON’T, JUST DON’T! We originally had adjoining rooms with a beach view. Woke up to a bed bug on the wall and one in the bed. The front desk did move us rooms however they we not adjoining and did not have a beach view, with a promise that the day manager would call me. Prior to moving rooms I had to pack up our personal belongings from each room into small clear trash bags (30) so that we could see if any of the bed bugs were in our clothes, shoes or towels. The manager did call, she stated it wasn’t a bed bug because when they “squished “ it there wasn’t any blood and that the best she could do is let us leave ( it was Saturday & no one else on the island had any rooms available) and not charge us or credit one our room $69.00 ….We did end up leaving/checking out and going home that evening. I just checked my bank account and see that I was charged $301.00 per room per night. I called the hotel, the desk clerk was familiar with our name and room problems, he transferred me to the day manager who literally just argued with me over the phone and “evidently” forgot that she said we could leave and not be charged & was not truthful regarding our conversation last Saturday morning. In the end I asked her if customer service was not the hotels priority, she never responded to my question she just continued to state facts about the hotels pricing. BE WARNED, this hotel is about money not customer service or hospitality. …By the way I verified the bug I took a picture of was in fact a bed bug.

Beds was comfortable and clean hallways smelled like smoke cause rooms are smoking or non smoking and we had to kill 2 big roaches on two different occasions in our bathroom. I will not stay here again and I recommend spending little more money for better hotel,

We haven’t stayed there yet, but I have to recognize Felicity at the front desk. I called to make reservations and made several mistakes causing me to call her back several times. She was super friendly and helped me out in a matter of minutes. She was professional, courteous, and made me feel important. Looking forward to being there.

My wife and I stayed here prior to a cruise. The hotel was under construction so most of the amenities were not being offered. Location is good for seeing Galveston. Rooms were average at best for cleanliness and comfort. The TV remote was missing from my room and the phone system would not allow a call to the desk. After 4 trips to the front desk to get one, I gave up trying with no offer from the staff to make it right. This is the worst hotel in the Bonvoy brand that we have stayed at. With the construction the hotel had a broken glass door that was not secured and was a OSHA violation.
