Dresden is the capital of Germany. In the course of the 2nd World War, the main part of the old town was demolished by bombs. Thus, the local people in Dresden like to make a joke as: the old town is new while the new town is old, The old town of Dresden is worth to see. It is possible to walk around to see main historical buildings such as Frauen Kirche/Church of Women, Zwillinger Palast/ The Royal Palace, old town square, the Municipal Building which offers you a panoramic view at the roof, Opern Haus/Opera Building. You can also take a guided tour. If you wish to make a break, you can find many restaurants, bars, and cafés. In terms of café, my recommendation is Opera Building Cafe which serves very delicious cream cakes. You can drink tea, coffee, and some liqueurs. There are also some elegant souvenir shops in the old town. Especially, in Christmas times, the old town looks cozier. Please do not forget to take some photos at the terrace of the old town. The terrace part is connected with the bridge crossing over the River Elbe. The view is amazing.
