The City of Palms is located in Southwestern Florida on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River. Most visitors go to Fort Myers for the deep-sea fishing, the golf courses and the famous white sand beaches and islands that line the Gulf Coast. A renovation of the city's downtown waterfront promises new restaurants, clubs, shops and galleries. Attractions include the winter estates of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, as well as nearby Naples and the islands of Sanibel and Captiva.

Our educational coervatory is the only facility of its kind that is dedicated to safeguard of our incredible and diverse native butterflies of Southwest Florida. Our primary goal is to educate our guests on the importance of building butterfly habitats and protecting our natural environment where ever they may reside.
The butterflies or flying flowers were lovely. The plant life luscious. Both accompanied by soft classical music and tinkling water features. What a marvelous way to spend an hour, just relaxing and enjoying Mother Nature. The organization works to save and propagate butterflies. A worthy cause.

Our 105-acre facility hosts a true Florida swamp and we house injured native wildlife that may never be released into the wild. We also have exotic and exotic invasive species found or surrendered by owners. Daily animal demos! Special topics talks weekly (All about Alligators, Eyes on Eagles, Butterflies, Solar Observing on Fridays at the Planetarium). We have a cool planetarium (44-foot dome with a Media Globe II planetarium projection system) with three different shows per day and different shows each month. There are special events throughout the year. Check out our classes starting up in 2018!

1.8 mile hike that was relatively easy for my 2 grand-daughters (ages 4 & 5) and myself to comfortably complete in little over an hour mid-afternoon today. The weather cooperated, partly to mostly cloudy with a gentle breeze and temps in mid 70’s. We didn’t see another person on the trail. Did see several birds of various species but no other wildlife. Benches are located around the trail offering opportunities to rest and snack along the way. Overall a nice way to spend an afternoon with the grandkids.
