In addition to fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking and camping, this park offers visitors the opportunity to view the only bison herd in Minnesota's State Parks.
Definitely plan to visit. Call early and reserve a bison tour. Take time to hike a few of the trails. Don't forget to check out the "Touch the Sky" WMA a few minutes away from the state park as well. The ranger can show you the directions on the map. Both of these great places to experience the tall grass prairie and are located about 20-30 min from Pipestone National Monument. I highly recommend making a day of it and seeing them if you are in the area. When we visited, we stayed in Pipestone, but I would recommend checking out Luverne near the SP.
The Lake has a large fishing dock, beach volleyball, picnic tables, and a large swimming beach. It hosts an annual Fourth of July celebration. In the winter, ice fishing is a popular activity at The Lake.
